Hi Nels!

How are you doing?? Hope the second trimester is treating you well?

(Totally off topic - please excuse ladies)

I just wanted to let you know that we succesfully night weaned our 16 month old from the boob this week. It was 2 rough nights where dad had to comfort her and then on night 3 only 3 wakings of 5min each and then on the fourth night one waking for 1 min. and after that just a quick "shhh" once a night!!! She is doing sooo much better and sleeping a good day sleep and eating much better! Let me know if you want to know how we did it. xx

Nels I dont see why you cant ask for any of those things. Chat to your doctor. My c-section was fine, I didnt ask for any of those things but it was quiet and not traumatic etc. They showed her to me and did a quick fetal assessment and then I held her again. I would not do away with immediate fetal assessments, as it does remain an operation so there are some potential risks - I would just feel better for them to make sure everything is fine with baby right away. I also dont think they'll really be able to dim the lights, as those lights are pretty bright, the ones they shine on you during the operation. While they patched me up they took her with her dad to get cleaned up a bit and weighed. I did not mind that at all, but that's just how I am. I was in recovery for a few minutes and then when I got back to my room she was there already and I got to breastfeed and have some skin to skin.

Hi Gloie

I dont know, but I am secretely hoping for another boy. Im terrified of having a girl. I dont know how you do it, I think its the unknown that makes me a bit scared.
I think with a toddler (who seems to rule the house) this pregnancy is the hardest of them all. I will have to start training him to sleep without boob and with his dad. Because at the moment he is having non of it. I will try not dissappear hahaha.

Hi Gloie

thank you, I am 14.5weeks along. Due 4 Feb, so my mistake, i went for a proper scan yesterday afternoon, am due in mid Jan for a cs. I feel really sick. It seems my morning sickness is not stopping. But I have a horrible sweet tooth. Yesterday at my friends shop I finished a pack of sour worms, ate mini mushmallows nonstop, had soda and chocolate muffins for lunch then had chocolate before bed. Its bad. Thankfully I am off tea and coffee, i can try rooibos but mainly 1 cup. Bread makes me ill, pap is a no go zone even watching a cooking show with maize turns my stomach its weird, oh and no colour yellow. So shoprite is horrifying for me. Its odd.

A gentle c sec.
Is setting the environment to allow a non traumatic entry into the world. A gentle c is allows soft calm music, dimmed lights, no loud noises, fetal ejection movement, delayed cord clamping, placental saving, skin to skin, first feed in OT, and delayed fetal assessments and done on mom.
