Are we twins? I'm also due on Jan 05 and i really badly want her to come on the 4th as that is our wedding anniversary and my dad's birthday. My sister is also getting married and moving to Canada in December. The timing for everything is just so wrong but i too made peace with the fact that i cant have things perfect and my sister will either miss the birth or i will miss the 4th of Jan date i want.

Hi Brownie,

So sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. And can understand why you would feel that way.
Would also feel very disappointed to be in hospital over Christmas time....

Your due date is never a guaranteed date though....just an estimated time. Like most things in life we don't really have full control of when that little bundle of joy will make it's appearance. With my first pregnancy my due date was 05/12, my C-section was scheduled for 27/11, but my baby was born on 24/11 as I started dilating a few days before the time.

They tend to say to expect your baby to come along either 2 weeks before your due date or 2 weeks after. And some babies want to make their appearance even earlier!

For all you know...you could go into labour while at your sister's wedding!

Good Luck - I am sure everything will work out the way it should ;)

Thanks Bona Dea. I spent the whole weekend getting used to the idea of a 2016 baby, and thanks to a killer backache, I think giving birth earlier may not be such a bad idea :)

I don't have fb (and its 2016) :)

Join this group on fb, there are loads of help on there for a VBAC. I'm sorry you are bullied, however, I do think you should start preparing yourself mentally on a possible 2016 birth - just because your EDD is only 5 days into the new year and anything can happen - for example my water broke on 36 weeks, so my baby came a whole month before her due date.

Good luck! I'm a December baby and it is not bad at all ;-)

Hi All

Its been a while since I was here. I hope everyone is well. I had my second baby almost 5 years ago via c-section. He was two weeks late and running out of fluid. Now I'm expecting my last son (24 weeks preg). When we were TTC we made sure that we did our deeds to allow baby to come in 2017, not 2016. It happened faster than expected and we are due on 05th Jan (yay!). Now the problem is the docs I've been to insist on a 38 or 39 week birth-date. I don't want that. I truly and honestly, from the bottom of my heart, do not want that. To make matters worse my sister is getting married on the 31st December and I will be playing a big role in that wedding. I was hoping to schedule my birth date for the 2nd Jan at least, but I'm not winning with any gynae so far and i'm terribly upset. The last time I gave birth I was in terrible pain for weeks after, so giving birth on the 26th Dec will mean missing the wedding and the 23rd (doc's proposal) will mean spending xmas in hospital. I've never been away from my family on xmas day ever! I'm so sad and upset and I don't understand why this is forced on me. First I wanted a girl but am getting a boy. A disappointment that I'm getting over. Then I'm being told to give birth in 2016 when I wanted 2017, not to mention its been the most difficult pregnancy for me yet. I'm just not winning. Please advice me on 2 issues:

- is there really a reason why I can't give birth 3 days before my EDD? Any docs in Durban area that can allow that?
- if I were to go for vbac (gynae didn't seem too stressed about going vbac), will I be allowed to carry baby to 40 weeks to allow for natural? I should have asked doc more Qs on this but I was just so upset about this and other matters.

Your views will be much appreciated.
