Hoping to also be an October mommy. I had a + hpt and beta of 113 on the 7th of Feb.
In the meantime had some slight bleeding and a scan that showed nothing(no baby, no gestational sack). Doc just said it was too early for abdominal scan. Could not get an internal as we did not want to increase the bleeding. Need to go back on Monday to see what is going. Doc placed me on additional progesterone (sp).

Congrats to Elamsmom and Mrs S H.
How are the two of you feeling ?

Oh, and about my work. i work in a bank in the Structured Finance division. It is highly pressurized and sometimes the working hours are extremely long. Normally 8 - 5pm but Tuesday nigh I worked till 8pm and yesterday till 10pm. If there is a deal with tight deadlines, unfortunately that's what happens.

so...that might be an issue in the 3 rd trimester when i get tired easily and i am a huge hippo  But I'll see.

I love the timing of our pregnancies though. Babies will be born in Spring. Not too hot yet. And we won't be heavily pregnant at the height of Summer. Last time I was heavily pregnant in jan & Feb which was boiling hot in Joburg!

Mrs S H, a Shirodkar suture is some kind of a stitch that they do at the entrance to your cervix to prevent miscarriage. they basically sew your cervix closed. Totally unexplained why I started bleeding so they put in the stitch as a precaution.

I was sooo relaxed and thought I'd only go to the gynae at abt 10 weeks, but after speaking to him on the phone this morning, I am suddenly so excited and can't wait to see my baby on the ultrasound screen!!! I think I'll make an appointment for 2 weeks time. :woohoo:

Shoo! This pregnancy thing is super exciting! My 1st pregnancy was ok (except the bleeding incident.) I got ALL the pregnancy yuckies :) ; morning sickness till about 12 weeks then that stopped. 2nd trimester was nice and smooth. 3rd trimester brought extreme heartburn (had to have a bottle of Gaviscon in the car, on bedside table, at work, everywhere!), aching pelvis(towards the end); swollen feet (a litttle, especially when travelling).

My LO is a girl. Yours? I was hoping for a boy this time around but then started to think how think 2 girls would be. sisters... but i don't worry much about the gender cos it's really in God's hands. There's nothing you can do to ensure one specific outcome. I'll be happy whether its a girl or a boy.

@Elamsmom - ja I was exactly the same about reading and worrying and not eating this and doing my hair and this time round I'm going to enjoy it. Is you LO a boy or a girl?

What is a Shirodkar suture? I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy this time round.

My previous pregnancy was amazing. Yes I had morning sickness (more queasy - ALL DAY LONG) from 6 weeks - 13/14 weeks, but after that, nothing. No heart burn, no feet swelling, slept well - so I'm really really praying that it's the same for this one!

Do you work fulltime? I changed jobs since my last pregnancy - my last job was very easy and my new one is pretty stressful and a lot more full on than before. Not to the point that I'm worried about it, but it's going to be testing to really cope with a hectic job, active toddler and a pregnancy. But ag, let's cross that bridge.

For now, I hope that all your beans sit tight and continue to sit there until at least 37 weeks! :-)

Hi ladies.Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancies!

I'm also scared to "jinx" it, but my have taken about 10 home pregnancy tests; and period was due on 22 Jan so about 11 days late. If I use "Dr Google", my EDD is 30 September 2012.

Our 1st born is 21 months now. (turning 2 in April). I am sooooo excited about this new baby & praying god-willing for a happy, healthy pregnancy. Last pregnancy I had to get a Shirodkar suture put in at 17 weeks as I started bleeding and apparently a "threatening miscarriage", so just phoned my gynae now & he said to come in & he'kk check my cervix to see if I'll need the stitch put back for this pregnancy.

@Mrs S H, I'm also not looking forward to the newborn phase, but I'm also much more relaxed this time. Last pregnancy, I was OBSESSED. Read everything, went to the gynae religiously every 4 weeks from about 5 weeks onwards. bought everything. I was such a Schmuck

I'm looking forward to having a new little person in the house and I love that we are extending our little family.

Hope to keep chatting to you ladies.

Hi,

I am almost to scared to type it out loud, but yes, I am an October mommmy! My last period was 30 December and I did a hpt on this past Sunday and Monday morning - both showing pregnant.

This will be my second baby. Alex (my son) is 20 months on Valentines Day and so ready for a sibling.

I've booked an appointment with the gynea (Dr Truter - Durbanville MC) for 28 February. By my calculations I should be about 8 weeks then and we should be able to hear the heartbeat (God-willing). I'm much more relaxed this time. Last time I went to the gynea the day I got a positive hpt - only to pay R900 to hear, "yes dear, you are in fact pregnant. Now come back in 3 weeks so we can hear the heartbeat".

I had a c-sect last time. Alex stayed put for the full 40weeks and showed no sign or interest in coming out, staying high. The c-sect was absolutely fine - I was glad to have it as as it turned out, Alex had the umbilical cord round his neck twice, so can you imagine I went natural? He is a very healthy boy, very active and incredibly cute. He sleeps and eats like a dream. He stays home with our nanny during the day. He will go to playschool when the next baby comes.

Dreading going through the baby phase again - I loved every moment, don't get me wrong - but it's SO EASY now! Very excited about the new baby, but shooo the late nights, getting into routine, sore nipples...all of this with an active toddler around too!

We are very blessed. We literally said let's go for no.2 and fell pregnant.

That's my story. I chatted last time on here too in the June 2010 thread and said in touch with most of the mommies on there. It's a really nice platform to ask any questions or just chat to like-minded people.

Good luck!
