Normal vaginal Birth without epidural

On friday night i went to bed feeling okay but i woke up around 1a.m feeling contractions and i couldn't sleep at all, Saturday morning contractions were coming every 5min and last 60sec, i decided to go to the hospital, they check me and it's true about the contraction but i wasn't dilated 0cm, but the "show"came. They sent me back home and told me to come back at night.

I went back home but the pain was terrible, i tried to ignore it the whole day, around 8 p.m i couldn't anymore, i told my DH lets go hosp again, they check me i was only 1cm dilated but they decided to give me sometime if i don't progress then they'll send me back home. 1 a.m i was 2cm,and the pain was too much, i was admitted and gave me pethidine injection but i couldnt sleep the pain was intense and last long.
Sunday morning Around 5 a.m they check me again and i ask for an epidural bcz i couldnt take it anymore, they told me i was 6-7cm and epidural can not work at this point. Around 6 a.m they took me to the delivery room, put me on drip, rupture my membrane and from that point strong and intense contraction were coming, my gynae couldnt come, so they gave me another dr. who was so nice i must say, soo kind he held my hand, rub my lower back, My DH was still not arrived yet. When he came i was already 9cm, took the job of holding my hand, wipe sweat on my forehead, telling im doing very good and push harder i'm almost there. I got episiotomy like 5stitches. My daughter was born i couldnt even hold her as i was soo tired, her dad held her until i was stitched and show her to me, and told me i have made it, i'm soo strong and brave!!
I never expect it to be this painful but i'm glad i made it and feel the experience.

Congratulations to everybody!!!! We've made it!!!!

Just thought I will post my birth experience...

So we left home at midnight on Monday 11 Feb. Got to hospital, hubby did all the paperwork whilst the nurse got me settled in and gave me the induction (the one that is on a little line that's inserted into the cervix).

Hubby went home and I went to sleep. By 6am the morning, still nothing was happening, the cervix was still way at the back and not dialating at all. The poor nurse was having a hard time to get the induction meds in position, so when the gynea came around to check on me, she put it in where it should be. Oooooh my word and that was the absolute last moment of rest for me for almost an hour.

Just then hubby also arrived after dropping our 3 year old at daycare. I had an extremely irritable uterus throughout the pregnancy, so when the gyne managed to get the induction meds into the cervix opening it completely overstimulated my uterus and the contractactions started with a bang!!! Meaning it contracted for at least a minute and then relaxed for only 5-10 seconds before going again! At first I thought I was going to die...then I started wishing I could just die!!!

After about half an hour of this I told my hubby to go fetch the nurse, because this is surely not normal. The nurse gave me one look and pulled out the induction. After another half an hour it still did not stop, so she ran to get the anaesthetist to give me an epidural immediately. That was absolute heaven!!!

...but the hectic contractions still continued...the next moment baby's heartrate just started dropping dangerously low with each contraction (which was constant!!!), then my bloodpressure crashed and I kept on fainting.....lucky for me this nurse knew her stuff and very quickly, without even needing to call the dr, got both baby and myself stabilised. She's stunning, she knew how badly I wanted normal birth and if she had to call for help, they probably would have given me a c-section right there and then.

She then checked me and saw I was 5cm and baby's head was almost engaged, she checked with the gynea, then they ruptured my waters, baby then immediately moved down and engaged fully.

After about 10 minutes I told hubby that I'm not being funny, but I really want to push and it feels like his head is about to pop out. Shame he jumped up and had a quick look, as he turned to go call the nurse, she came in and said I must not push, she shouted for the other nurse to get the gynea fast. They got everything ready in a minute, the gynea walked in, had a look, then said that I can push....and out was the head, she quickly checked his neck for the umbilical cord, then I gave another push and out he was!

From the moment I had the epidural till he was out felt like 5 minutes!!

I am soooo extremely greatful that I gave birth so quickly, when I read other people's stories of how they had to push for hours on end.....I don't want to be doing that.

So, anybody else have a birth story to share?

Here's a picture of 3 of the 4 men in my life!!!
