hehehe.. Angie. i just want to warn you. you are going to deal with loads of poo everywhere. disposables do not keep poo is so well especially those first few weeks. and again when teething - with teething its actually much worse than those 1st few weeks.
then all baby's clothes and blankets are full of poo as well as the whole baby - i have actually changed a few diapers in the bath just to contain the mess and rinse everything off

i actually delt with much less poo when using cloth.
i use nappy liners which most of the time catches all of the poo then i just through that way. i have kitchen gloves and just quickly handwash the poo nappies.

and then also, poo will maybe only gross you out the first week. or the first time baby has a stinky diaper (after starting solids) or a runny tummy. baby poo is one of the things that is going to become a big part of your life for the next 3 years.

when it comes to cost. i actually went the cloth route to save money.
if you spend about R3000 on cloth diapers, you are set till baby is potty trained. if you are having more babies, then you already have all your nappies.
buying sposies will cost you between R20 000 and R25 000 and that is if baby is fully potty trained before 3 years old.

and the best is, you can do cloth diapers for even cheaper than that.
you can buy 2 or 3 diapers a month and by the time baby comes, you will already have enough to start with.
and you can put it on your baby shower list that people rather buy a cloth diaper or give you a voucher to buy cloth.

Yip there's tissue salts for everything! I don't say it will work like the strongest anti inflammatories, but in my mind I hoped it was bringing some sort of relief.

Stella with Josh I so badly wanted to go the cloth nappy route, but the start up is just so expensive!!! I toyed with it for months and month, but in the end I think i felt the initial cost was too daunting.

shame Angie, unfortunately, there is very little medications we can take while pregnant.
maybe read up on tissue salts:
www.natura.co.za/B_Products.asp
you can even send Natura a mail, and ask what combination can you take.
tissue salts are safe while pregnant.

Ayesha, you can also take tissue salts for your flue - nr 5 and nr 9 or 7

again for the nappies. i do agree with Simone, you will be very upset if you have only pampers and end up not using them.
my lb get an emediate rash from huggies. pampers stinks much more than huggies. Cudlers are ok, but for me a bit hard and paper'y. the clicks brand are also ok.

if i do have to use a sposie, i buy pampers premium (the most expensive one on the market) as they work the best. but with my cloth nappies, it takes me 3 months to use up 1 pack (52 nappies) of Pampers.

for the size my lb (again keep in mind he was a big baby and grew very fast) used the huggies nr 0 for 2 weeks. nr 1 nappy for 2 weeks, nr2 nappy for 3 weeks and nr 3 nappy for 4 weeks. he was just over 3 months when we started using nr4. and now (11 months) he still wears nr 4.

if anyone is interested in hearing more about cloth nappies, now there i can give loads of information. attached are some fhotos of my lb in his cloth

Try wrapping your wrists...even wearing those wrist guards (made of material?) if you have any. I think you can buy at clicks. BUt bandage was cheaper option for me.
