Morning everyone

Migs is feverish and NOT a happy child at the moment. Can see she's feeling horrible and I HATE the fact that I can't look after her when she's sick!!!!!!! Didn't send her to creche this morning, she's at Renier's mom. (Another huge stress factor for me).

Does anyone know what I can use for a coldsore? She's got one in the corner of her mouth? I never had that as a child so don't know how to treat it?

Binks I like the P&P nappies!! No problems so far. They're alot like Pampers.
DEFINITELY going to try that cake recipe! Will do it after we've moved though :D

Justine hope the receptionists are back at work today?

Sounds like alot of us are struggling with MIL's?

Patricia sorry to hear about the MS STILL hanging around! Had to laugh about the vrot chicken though :P Aaah..4cm..that's so exciting!!!!!

Sumaya, Migs isn't feeling too lekker at all :(
Don't feel ashamed..I ALSO buy the boxcakes and some of them are really nice :D It's my mom's birthday tomorrow and I'm baking a boxcake for her on saturdag :D
It's so cute that Zia is happy in the mornings!

Hello Mommies

Marilu, how is Migs? I saw your status on fb.....I hope all is ok.

Lizel, is Zelri still enjoying her bed? Where did you get the pedastils from?

Nadia, I changed Zia from Pampers to Huggies Gold, he has a milk bottle before bed, and a water bottle during the night, and I don't have to change him during the night. I'm going to try the PnP Nappies too.... :) I use the size 4+ what size is L on?

Lonie, you lucky with your SIL, my SIL is another story, I was very irritated with her yesterday, she doesn't greet and is forever in a bad mood, I just ignore her.

Justine, I hope the reception ladies pitch up today.

Pat, sorry about your ms,, I like the name "baby Nu" :) did you have ms with Adam?

Skitter, where are you? I love the pic of M and all her dolls :-)

Vision, what happened at work? Are you home now?

Monique, how are you doing?

BabyJap, is Q feeling better?

Bahia, how are you coping with the two babies?

Binks, that recipe sounds Yum, but I'm very lazy...... I must admit I buy those box cake mixtures

Cinds, are you ok?

Elrike, are you seeing the doctor today, or was it yesterday? I remember you said you on CD 15 right?

Clair, all the best for TTC'ing this month

Deja, how are you and N doing? Are you in court today?

Natashja, you've also been quiet?

Everything is ok on my side, Zia is getting too cute, he woke up this morning, with a smile on his face saying "morning".....I just wanna eat him up.

Afternoon Ladies,

Have been sitting in reception for most of the day, both receptionists didnt pitch up for work.

Marilu, you are not a bad mom at all. I agree with Nadia, you are doing the best for your little girl and thats the most important.

Nadia, what size nappies are you using now?

Lonie, luckily I havnt tried the pull ups yet. Tried it with Jaydon when he was a baby and thought it was a waste especially after having to struggle to get it off after a no 2.

Lizel, your SIL sounds like mine. I cant stand her. Avoid her if I can. We dont take, too much has happened between us. She is not allowed near me or my children. Why dont you try putting a waterproof over Zelri's nappy at night. I had to do it with Jaydon when he was a baby and it works like a bomb.

Vision, I think having a firemans party will be so cool. You get the nicest decorations for a fire engine theme at crazy store.

Binks, do yourself a favour and buy just one pack of the P & P nappies. I say they are much better then Pampers and I am starting to like them even more than Huggies Gold. Its cheap and on special now for only R 99 a pack. You wont regret it. Cinds birthday is also on Thursday.

Ingredients

Butter, for greasing the pans or sray and cook
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pans
2 cups sugar
3/4 cups good cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup buttermilk, shaken
1/2 cup oil
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee

Directions

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
Butter 2 (8-inch) round cake pans.
Line with parchment paper, then butter and flour the pans.

Sift the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and mix on low speed until combined.

In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry.

With mixer still on low, add the coffee and stir just to combine, scraping the bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula.

Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 30 minutes, then turn them out onto a cooling rack and cool completely.

Place 1 layer, flat side up, on a flat plate or cake pedestal. With a knife or offset spatula, spread the top with frosting. Place the second layer on top, rounded side up, and spread the frosting evenly on the top and sides of the cake.

Chocolate Frosting:

6 ounces good semisweet chocolate

1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature

1 extra-large egg yolk, at room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

1 tablespoon instant coffee powder

Chop the chocolate and place it in a heat-proof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir until just melted and set aside until cooled to room temperature.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium-high speed until light yellow and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Add the egg yolk and vanilla and continue beating for 3 minutes. Turn the mixer to low, gradually add the confectioners' sugar, then beat at medium speed, scraping down the bowl as necessary, until smooth and creamy.

Dissolve the coffee powder in 2 teaspoons of the hottest tap water.

On low speed, add the chocolate and coffee to the butter mixture and mix until blended. Don't whip!

Spread immediately on the cooled cake.
