Making home-made glitter isn't as daunting as it may sound. It's actually quite easy!

You need:

Salt
Food coloring
Tin foil
Add a few drops of food coloring to salt.

Then: 

Spread mixture evenly over foil-lined cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees. Allow to cool. Experiment with many colors. Store glitter in old film containers or salt shakers. - Vicky Whitehead
