Hi Deja,

Thank you so much for submitting my question to your homeopath. It really puts things into perspective.

I actually visited a homeopath last week Monday and WOW was i surprised at how good i felt when i walked out. For the first time since being diagnosed with PCOS almost 3 years ago, i finally understand what its all about and i do believe that my homeopath is the key to assisting me with PCOS.

I went for bloods today and will be going for my next consult once the doc gets the results. I am very optimistic at this point in time and my full focus is on getting well and getting my body in balance. I have come to realise that although i want a baby very badly its going to take time and i have come to terms with the fact that my body should be functioning at its best so that when it does happen it will be a wonderful and healthy pregnancy.

Thanks again for the info.

Hi Miss Hopefull

I am in contact with a homeopath, dr. Petrie Joubert, and when I mailed him your question, he wrote the following on his blog, drpetrie.blogspot.com/2013/05/pcos-polyc...n-syndrome-what.html :

PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome - what is it and how can it be treated naturally
PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is a very common endocrine disorder (meaning associated with hormones) affecting females. Now this is where it becomes tricky and very confusing .......

As the name of the condition suggests is that the ovaries are polycystic but not all females diagnosed with PCOS will presents with symptoms and not all females will have polycystic ovaries.

Let me me explain .........

PCOS will only produces symptoms in about 5-10% of females (Goldenberg & Glueck 2008), which will or may include all or some of the following symptoms and signs

reduced amount of periods
no menstrual periods
infertility
increased levels of male hormones
increased facial and body hair
increased libido
insulin resistance
obesity
fatigue
depression

To clinically diagnose the syndrome most doctors look for signs of unstable insulin levels, signs of excess male hormones such as increased facial or body hair, polycystic ovaries done by ultrasound ( which is not always present ) and obesity (Aziz, 2006)

Most of the general practitioners and medical specialists will treat the condition with insulin regulating medications such as metformin and also medroxyprogestrone to regulate menstruation if needed which I personally feel do not address the cause of the conditions.

In terms of allopathic (the alternative) treatment - the basis would lie on correcting the hormonal pathways and finding the cause of the syndrome. The hormones and transmitters to assess are DHEA, progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, SHBG and insulin.

A wide range of natural products are available to address hormonal deficiencies and regulating insulin levels. Have a look at d-chiro inositol, alpha lipoic acid in a dual R form, chromium polynicotinate and a natural plant based progesterone cream.

Be careful though - each and every hormone of each female differs from the next. Get a complete hormone profile tested at a doctor. So that you can receive the correct treatment for the condition.

Hi Ladies,

I have an appointment to see Dr Sagi Nadioo in August but in the interim period i have been doing research regarding a Homeopathic route to treating PCOS and its symptoms.

Although PCOS will "never go away" i was wondering if anyone has had any "natural " success whilst using a Homeopathic solution to treating the symptopms of PCOS such as Fatigue, Infertitlity, irregular menstruation/ovulation.

I would love to hear any success stories or just general advice and views on using Homeopathy to assist with PCOS.

:)
