It's not the picking up that is the problem, it is if you want to pick them up and do an errand.

If I fetch them and have to stop at PnP - I sort of walk near them, so I can look after them, but so that I am not too close that someone thinks I am their mom - I try to act like a disinterested au-pair to try and save some dignity ....

Jaydon also comes home most days and his clothes are full of sand, grass marks etc. I honestly dont think there is a solution.

I just do the same as RM, I have clothes he wears for schools and clothes for weekends etc. He isnt allowed to wear his weekend clothes to school.

Reluctant Mom, Im so glad I am not alone on the shoes issue. Jaydon has also this year so far, had 5 pairs of shoes. All his shoes seem to scratch and tear in the front, must be from dragging his feet on the cement.

I do the same RM - but i feel so bad when i pick her up from school - dirty clothes, broken feet hair in the face - that i think to myself. what must the other mothers not think of me as a parent.

But then she tells me all about her day and how wonderful it was. and alls okay again. until i have to clean the cloths

Charlotte - I have the exact same problem, and no solution.

I have opted instead to keep certain outfits aside for weekend-outfits-if-we-are-going-out and the rest become school stuff, and I just accept that they are going to be destroyed.

My daughter comes home looking like an abandoned child most days and I have no idea how she gets so dirty!!

My son is in Grade 2 and I am down to buying him a new pair of school shoes every 1 1/2 months because he TOTALLY destroys his shoes. Last year in total I bought 6. I am already on to pair 5 and it is only September.

Ah the joys of dressing kids - yes, I also a agree a "naked day" when they are small is just what we need.

I learned quite early not to buy light colour clothes for Dylan. He has his school clothes and if they don't look that great tough. I would rather him know he can have a ball and not worry about clothes!
