4 year old starting to lie...

My uncle said there is a very thin line between discipline and punishment. He is a therapist and he says kids are very creative beings, they are fascinated by the concept that their minds can create stories and they want to tell those stories which is why they lie.

there are innocent lies and lies that can hurt people and we need to differentiate between these before applying discipline. I am still trying to find a solution to this problem because most of the time they think its harmless.

BV - as sy nie haar kamer se speelgoed optel nie, dan het sy dit nie meer nie. dit word in n sak bo in die kas gesit en elke aand wat sy haar speelgoed optel sonder om te huil, skree en tantrum dan mag sy 1 ding terug kies. dit werk nogal mooi.

Hitting isn't going to do it. Trust me, I know it has no effect. If you take something away that they like it has a much better effect.

I will try it, her dad feels that it can be hit out of her, but i dont agree with that.

Charlotte, I would start with things that she is most fond of like for instance a favourite TV show or maybe is you have a regular treat like and Ice-cream on a Sunday or even perhaps eat, bath and straight to bed no TV or games before bed but this much just be very brief like for 1 day.

what would i start talking away and how? sorry but me need help!!! i will no accept that lying even little ones is this a little thing they do.
