Yes sadly underwear is too expensive these days. I head to the shops and return with undies for Dylan usually. Can't buy for both of us. The only time I get new undies is when I have to go to hospital for some reason or for my annual gyane exam. Not sure why i bother as nobody sees them, but you never know. Sad state of affairs indeed.

I am not needing stationery for Dylan yet, but I think I am going to start chucking a monami set in the trolley each month so that we can build up a good supply.

NHS is great. My brother and I were talking about it, him being in England and expecting their first child now. Only issue is if you have a minor irritation it may take a hundred years to be sorted if you stay in a major city. It took them 8 months to order an MRI for his neck. Private healthcare here is pretty damned good if you ask me and yes a few bills but mostly not much if you use really kind docs.

Yes you can get free condoms but do you trust them. Durex are flipping espensive!

Mumsy I had my first LB IN UK (c-sec) and didn't pay a penny for anything, it was great and the care was fantastic. NHS you rock!!! And some people only complain about them, come to SA and use a public hospital - not nice!

Had my second LB in SA OMG!!! Also c-sec and it cost me about R45 000 (private hospital) all in all.

Yeah, why do you think I am a SAHM? It was not worth my while to work for a few 100 pounds a month after I had paid childcare costs, travel costs, uniform, etc. And then they get sick all the time too, so it was better to be at home.

I have no problem with the quality of care of teh NHS. I am in Dorset and our Care Trust is one of the better one's so that does factor into it, but it was a big shock not to get a single medical bill after DS. I had a high risk pregnancy and had midwife/gynae appointents every second day from 35 weeks, was rushed in an ambulance, had 7 blood tests in 6 weeks, etc, etc. and never saw a single bill. And even after having DS, all the GP appointents, hospital appointments, I had PND, everything, not a single bill. I do love that part of the UK.

The high cost of stationery is seriously something they could use to motivate safe sex and sterilisation.

Every December/January I stand in PnP/Shoprite/Checkers/Game/PnA or where ever else my credit card is not being bounced and purchase stationery that is slightly more expensive than the salary I earn.

Hence the reason I buy my underwear at Ackermans and not La Senza ....... BECAUSE I HAVE TO BUY FKN STATIONERY!!!!

in SA the Condoms, Some Pills, Pregnancy Test, Check-ups wen Pregnant are also free but then the quality of service and waiting time are unbearable!
