LB Teacher Leaving - Principle wants to combine...

I fully understand why you are so annoyed especially since the reason for you choosing the school is for the smaller class.

Dylan is in a class of about 25 kids with three teachers. They cope really well.

I might also have an issue with oder kids being grouped with my child, but they can also benefit from it in certain ways.

If you are really not happy then chat to the parents and force him to hire a teacher before the end of the year. He is obviously trying to save costs, but maybe he has a good teacher in mind who can only start next year.

I would also be upset - there is a big difference between 2/3 year olds and 5 year olds. And that is a lot of kids for one teacher to handle.

I don't think you are over reacting - I would react in exactly the same way.
There is still 4 months or the year left and I think that is too long to combine the classes. Apart from the number of children in one class, 2 year-olds and 5-year olds can't do the same activities and get the same stimulation - each group needs age appropriate stimulation.
I would talk to the principal again and see if they can't get a substitute teacher for the rest of the year.

Hi Ladies

Im a bit irratated at the moment or maybe Im being overprotective so i thought i would ask what your opionion on the matter would be..

My child is 2y and 9months and is in a school that i love, however his teacher has found alternative employment, she initally said that she would only leave at the end of November however a notice in my childs school book yesterday said that she has been asked to start at her new job on Monday. The Principle now wants to adjoin the 13 kids who are between the ages of 2-3 years with another 13 kids who are aged between 3-5 years. I am not happy about this, yes there will be 1 teacher and two assistant but 26 kids??????? Furthermore 5 years are alot more rougher etc than the kids between 3-5 and how are these teachers going to offer the kids individual attention? I put my child in this school because there are a limited number of children in a class and as such they get that attention they need. The principle has said that this new arrangement will be until the end of the year, with a new teacher starting next year.

The principle has said that one classroom will be used for eating time and art time and the other class will be used for puzzles,down time etc, I am still not pleased with this. I am waiting for the teacher to return mine or my husbands call so i can explain how i feel about this situation and to hear exactly how she aims to play this out.

How would you feel about this? Am i just overeacting? being an overprotective mommy?
