Toddler smacked against head by pre-school teacher

I had a similiar experience as MandyB. I agree with her advice.

I had to pay still but I removed my child from the school.

I am no law expert, but I would guess that you need proof of such an incidence to make your contract void with the school.

Choosing a school for your 3yr old is really, really hard. I can tell you that I went to many, thought i was happy, chose one and then had to move my child as well due to too many falls at 14 months..

The problem is that you dont like the school, you had a bad feeling and then you felt it was confirmed. My opinion is that you did the right thing and trusted your instinct.

However, since 3 yr olds dont always tell the truth, ( and I am not saying yours ) and that you did not go back to the school and confront the issue, I know that ALL schools would respond the same way yours has.

I did remove my child since I felt they were neglecting him and I had to pay that last month as well even though I dealt with it..

My son told the school that when Daddy hits him so hard, mommy cries!!! and the truth is that I have hit my son about 3 times in his little life when nothing else works and my husband has NEVER hit him, and I certainly wouldnt cry if he did, I would know that it was probably justified as my husband is very gentle with my totally mischevious boy!

There is not a lot you can do, other than put your complaint in writing, go and have a meeting with the school and expect them to not charge you and hope for the best.

Otherwise paying for the ONE MONTH and walking away knowing in your heart that you are protecting your child is the next best thing!

My 3yo toddler started daycare for the first time 3 months ago and seemed to be enjoying it alot as he had his own "friends". I had my reservations about placing him at the school as I did not have a connection with the principal and teacher. I asked about my son's development everyday and they just said it is fine. My son loved it there as he had playmates and did not really tell me about the actual activities he did every day. One day when I fetched him, he told me the teacher hit him on his head and he demonstrated it as well. I was very upset and did not send him back to the school again. As we did not want to place my son and younger daughter in a confrontational situation we did not go to the creche to confront the teacher. When my husband phoned the principal she said the teacher did complain about my son to her but they would never hit children. Snce we decided on removing him from the school, she still wants the money for the month. Can you believe tht! How can I pay someone to hit my child? Just want to know what steps I can take in this case.
