Hi nathanisabella,

Welcome to moomie!!

Starting good healthy sleeping habits start from a young age. It is usually if a good bedtime routine is not set that it starts creating havoc as the toddler gets older. I have bad news for you (and some good), if you don't start doing something about it soon it will just get more difficult to controll.

I really found the suggestions of the "sleepsense" book very helpful.

- Bedtime should be roughly around 6 - 7 pm.
- Having a daynap or "quiet time" is very important.
- Having a calm sleep zone with perhaps some white noise/fan or calming music.
- Have a night light.
- Have a sleep soother like dummy/blanket/soft toy.
- Get enough movement stimulation during the day
- avoid sensory overload during the day
- Start evening routine with a warm bath followed by a relaxing massage if he enjoys it. Keep bath time as quiet as possible
- wrap your child in a warm towel and take to the bedroom and keep stimulation to a minimum.
- you can spends some "floor time" engaging in quiet play doing a puzzle or reading a book
- Dim the lights and offer some warm milk (if he likes it) while holding him in your arms
- offer the sleep soother, say goodnight and leave the room

Keep in mind if you plan to move his bedtime from 10 pm to earlier you will have to do so by moving it a bit sooner every night.

If he won't settle...part 2 might be necesary!

Good luck!

:woohoo: :woohoo: hello ladies..

i am a mom of two... 2 year old boy and 9 month old girl... and they are driving me insane.

My boy plainly refuses to sleep before 10 at night and my daughter seems to enjoy his trantrums and would rather stay awake to watch him eventhough she cant keep her eyes open.

is there anything in this world to assist my boy to relax, as I am a working mom, with body aches all over the place and stress levels to die for.
