exclamation-circle Holiday School programmes? Where to find one

My LO will be home with her granny duing the school holidays, but the pre-school she is at, does have a holiday programme that she could got to.
But, in our area, CT northern suburbs, there are quite a few "aftercare" options which host holiday programmes though. Maybe you can ask at the school if they know of any.

Thanks Zelf. I agree with some "downtime" but what about when it's just not possible.... :pinch: DH and I wing it with leve and taking turns to have downtime with him but its not always possible... At least his current school only closes Dec, so we all take a break together...

Hi Spirited Mama

I am in the same boat! I have 3 children, and the oldest is in school (Gr R), and the other 2 still in nursery school(they close one week in June and Dec till second week in Jan) Last year I was on maternity leave the beginning of the year, and the other holidays we managed between ourselves and the grannies and our worker at home.

I want to move my middle boy as well to the big school, but yes, the holidays is a real problem.

I was never comfortable with leaving my kids at home with only 1 childminder, but I am getting there. Started leaving the 2 small ones in the afternoons(I only work halfday) when I have errands, and left the oldest at home some days during the holiday)

I also want them to sleep late and have some "down time", so don't want to send them to a school full time during holidays, but would love to send them a few days a week.

I hope you find a solution!

I would love to see the responses because quite a few schools are closed during school holidays. I always wonder what the other parents do, ask a grandma?
I work from home (although recently my work has almost dried up) therefore holidays are just really difficult times should I have urgent work to do. The TV might be doing more babysitting than usually allowed. I can work in the open plan living room while keeping an eye on my LG so it has worked out okay for us.

But wondering what do parents do that work both fulltime?? My guess is another family member helps out or there is always a childminder at home.

Hello Moomies

I'm in a bit of a catch 22 at the moment. So Dudie, 3yrs, has been in nursey schol and has started his Grade 000 this year. As much as we love his school, we have found our "ideal" school for him. We have decided that we will move him to his proper school in 2014, so that he is use to the system and staff etc. That way he gets gr 00 gr 0 at his real school before actual gr1....

My problem is that the "ideal" school closes during the holidays. As both DH and I work full time and our family is based in Cape Town, this is a big problem. The current school only closes in December. We do take frequent breaks, before anyone thinks that my child is at school all year

I'd like to know what other parents are doing? Do you exhaust all your leave? I'm not really omfortable with having him home with a child minder....
Are there any holiday schools in Pretoria? Preferably the east? And the family, well let's just say that they are not the most dependable/educational/good role model types.... I don't want him watching soapies the day...

I'm at a loss and DH is stressing about this too. Anyone with any suggestions? Reommendations? Anything

Thanks
