It was terrible for me. My son was playing SlottyVegas all the time. It was a nightmare to make him study. All the tutors left and he wouldn't listen to me too. It was such a rebel.

Hi Nels_n!!
We also finished up grade 1 this year, well no not really, we work at her pace with whatever interests her and only follow a maths curriculum.

This year has been tough with a baby underfoot, but such a blessing to watch them grow.

We will be focusing more on entrepreneurial skills than learning to a test, she did write conquests Olympiad this year and did really well.

Very interesting fanbrits, are you schooling at home only because your son is sick?

Our homeschooling journey is a bit different and I don't see it ending any time soon - we aren't following school at all, ie not on grade level - we will either finish school with the American GED/SAT or Cambridge - I'll let the kids decide when they are old enough and know where their life is headed!

I'm trying to homeschool as well. Teachers send my son tasks and he's fullfilling it. He's sick and when we have good days we're writing history essays with online help. Or if I'm at work and he's struggling to understand. Tough but I think in one or 2 years he can go back to school

I started this topic 3 years 5 months ago! Can't believe how the time has flown!

We have now finished grade R and grade 1 with our eldest and added a little guy to our family (he is nearly 1.5 now)

Still love homeschooling and doing really well - if anyone wants to connect, please do!

I didnt find the social aspect such an issue. Added though I was homeschooled from grade 8 onwards and kept my friend from school. Made new ones that were also homeschooled.
