A question to moms

Hi,

I think your skills would be more suitable for high school or tertiary where the computer/ overhead projector (and typed notes) is used on a daily basis.

Have you considered maybe teaching in a school for blind children?

I use a computer for everything at the moment and would plan on putting a printer in the classroom and taking my laptop with me every day. This way I would still be able to communicate with parents in the same way as a teacher who can write.

You have made some very valid points as to the children having an interest in writing. So far this year there haven't been any with this interest however all children are different. Also almost all of the schools in my area have assistants or interns (like I am at the moment though).

I'm not sure about 3-4 year olds as I do feel at that age they might show an interest in trying to write, especially their names. Maybe not though, but I think it is a possibility.

My son will be 2 soon and honestly the question of whether or not his teacher can write has never even entered my head. Should they be able to read? Yes, for sure. Writing though doesn't really bother me. As far as I can tell the only writing they do is to put names on artwork, and to write messages to me in his message book.

So for a 2-3 year old class I do not think it would be a problem. For a 3-4 year old class it might be though.

How would you send messages to the parents? With my son's school, if he falls or hurts himself they write up an incident report and stick it in his book. Would you be able to guarantee that you would see each parent each day in order to convey any important message that would otherwise be written in a book? That would be my only concern up until 3 years old.

Lets start my saying I am not a mom but am studying to be a teacher.

I however have a disability that make it impossible for anyone to read my writing. (I have tremors).

Here's the question. Would you as a mom be prepared to have you child in a class with a teacher who is unable to write. I would type up all notes and stick the child's name onto their work.

I ask this a I have worked as an intern in a preschool for 1 year and now they do not want to renew my contract as they feel that writing is an important part. And you cannot be a teacher if you are unable to write.

I work with 3-4 year old children at the moment and they are not learning to write yet.

How would you moms feel about putting you child in the trust of a person who is unable to write.
