Mmmmm I can relate. I always complain about the fat on my tummy (pulling it and then say something about it) and now Megan will do the same (she's 2). She will pinch the skin on her tummy and pulls it and then say: LOOK I'M PHAT!! So now I don't say ANYTHING bad about my body anymore in front of my girls. Kayla asked me the other day whether it's fat or pregnancy so I just said it's the pregnancy. We need to be very careful what we say around our kids. And a while ago, Kayla asked me: Mommy will my boobies also big so nice and big and wobbling ( ) when I'm big??? So what's a mommy to answer huh? I just said, yes, they will be nice and maybe a bit big but they won't be wobbling until you are much older and had kids (hope I'm right!).

You are so right! I have a thing about my Hair and that clothes must match colourwise and my Daughter has definately picked up on that and has made similar comments like your daughter did about looking fat in something. She freaks out when her Hair isn't exactly like she wants it becasue she sees me doing the same thing. I am unfortunately quite OCD about it and I know I need to work on that.

Yesterday my 4.5y old lg asked me if 'this' will make her lool fat! And I realised that one was all on me! Its the example I set. She hears when I tell her dad I am looking fat, ect. I told her she is perfect.

I put nailpollish on her nails from time to time. But it doesnt bother me. For ME that is ok, some may differ. But with makeup, I wont allow that until she is a teen, and then she needs to know its just for the 'fun' of it. That without it she is beautiful. I dont realy wear makeup or jewelery myself. But this is all MY choice.

So, as long as a child is taught the ins and outs, and knows you are perfect without it. I dont care what others do!

What about shaving the legs? Another one to debate.

Although my twins are only turning 2 at the end of November, I have to be honest, I've already painted Abigail's nails pink, red and black lol. I'm a very girly girl and my nails are always painted, she sees me painting them twice a week and she's interested. And if she wants make-up at 4 then I'll give her a play lipstick and blusher. I won't allow her to wear it out but like all of you have said, for play time it's fine. I was constantly in my mother's make-up drawers and shoe cupboards as a little girl and she allowed me to play which allowed my imagination to grow. I was never allowed to wear it out and I knew my boundaries. I do agree that all parents are different and what works for one won't necessarily work for another. I think it's great that all of you have such clear boundaries for your kids. It's quite inspirational really.
