Is it safe to eat biltong??

I simply love the chillie flavoured biltong. I only buy it if it is in sealed packages and NOT the one's that hang in the open in butchers

My gynae jus replied with,
"If you trust the source 100% it is safe"

I am nearly 14 weeks and would not have got by without biltong. I have only eaten very dry sticks from Woolies or homemade ..... we have a proper machine to make it!

To be honest I ate anything and everything when I was pregnant, and am doing it again now. My baby was big and healthy. Your body normally tells you if you shouldn't eat something.

I also did a bit of research on the net, some websites say "No, its not safe as the meat is raw, others say it is safe to eat

A bit confused

Properly dried biltong should be safe. I ate a lot of it with my first pregnancy, this time round I didn't crave it so much but I have eaten it sporadically.
