Shaz, swelling can be normal during pregnancy. But it can also be a simptom of pre-eclampsia. You can go to a pharmacy or clinic (i know the medicross clinics do it for free) and ask them to test your blood pressure. If is is high, request that they do a urine test. This should cost around R12. That way they can see if there is a problem and you can sleep better knowing.
If there is a problem, they will tell you to go see your docter or go to hospital.
As for which gyni and doc to use, sorry I'm in Jhb so I can't help you there.
Just for interest sake, what medical aid (and plan) are you on? I'm thinking of changing mine.

hi, I need a gynea in the Durban area does anyone know who I should use??? I am 6mnths pregnant and my stupid medical aid only covers 12 Dr's visits, I am swelling up like a balloon and he tells me "stay away from salt" no pee test nothing, now I'm being told stories of toxemia and I am so freaked out!! I am so worried that I might lose my child due to being on a shitty medical aid and not having the proper services and information I need!!
I need a Dr and a gynea recomended preferably at westville hospitalor Crompton....please help!
