The mirena is about R2000.the others are most likely the coil or copper iud. Just check. I called Beyer myself to query it and they confirmed the mirena being between R1800 and R2200 depending on pharmacy.

Most medical aids dont pay for it unless your gynae motivates it for medical reasons such as menorrhagia. if you have savings it will go through, but its kinda alot to knock off savings.

If you manage to get it motivated medically and submit the request to the medical aids review board, they cover it out of risk as chronic benefits. Worth looking into.

I paid R 2500 at my gyne and you can claim it back on the medical aid

Because the usually prescribe tablets that you need to insert the morning before you have the mirena put in and also some pain killers.

Guess I will have to start saving then . I have my yearly appointment in May, so that should give me enough time to put some savings aside.

I had mine inserted in 2009 and i paid about 1900 for it at M-Kem in belville so those prices seem to be correct.

But R2705 sounds a bit pricey. I also phoned around and bought the at the cheapest place.

Does anyone know if there might be a place that sells it for cheaper. At the moment I have a Nova T UID in and cannot really complain except for the hecticaly heavy periods each month.
