Have a midwife with Dr Dumbrill as her back up and says if he is fine with it then she is fine with it, so have an appointment with him next week to see.

Do you want me to get Mary Anne's number? She is southern suburbs based but takes clients based here and has paramedics on standby as far as I know in case there is need for an ambulance transfer to a hospital.

I know a sister Jenny but think she is retired now. She did homebirths with 2 friends a few years back.

Otherwise try contact Rosemary Gauld who is an antenatal class teacher at Intercare Tygervalley and retired midwife. She may have some ideas. She's northern suburbs based and very pro natural birthing. She knows Kim. Maybe she can help out with her number?

Lastly you can contact Mowbray maternity and find out if any midwives who are northern suburbs based / referrals.

Thanks ladies - has anyone heard of Sister Jenny's Pregnancy Centre? She is in my area and I've mailed to see if they are able to assist. They also seem to have a list of back-up doc... so here's hoping!

Ems mom, can you not call one of the midwives on birthworks and ask them for a list of gynaes that back them up? (or have in the past) My midwife had a list of about 10 docs that would back her up at a number of different durban hospitals...

Just stay away from *email me for the name* tertia@enchanted-pixels.co.za - she is utterly useless. When I was pregnant with Xadriaan, and went into labour, she could not make it to the birth cause her car broke. My bil offered to pick her up and drop her of at our place and then return to tow her car (he owns a scrapyard) at no cost. She refused to leave her precious car... We gave her a deposit and then after not making it to our birth cause she worried more about her car, she still complained behind our backs cause we did not pay the outstanding amount. We simply refused cause frankly, she did nothing to have any claims on that money.

Another woman I know (not just heard it through the grapevine, I KNOW her) had her baby almost die cause as she went into labour and phoned ***, *** said she was busy, hang up and switched her phone off. this was this lady's first baby and she did not know any better and when she finally got to hospital, her baby was in distress an dwas born not breathing. He ended up on life support. They sued her, but I don't know the outcome of the courtcase however.

Another mommy from PF contacted me about a year ago, asking me how we registered my son as her baby was also born at home, also after *** would have assisted her, and AGAIN she had some crappy excuse like she was "working" and could not come to the birth... I am sure if I was actually to research this, I will come to more moms who wanted to use *** and was left totally in a lurch by her.

Also avoid Sharon something, can't remember her surname, but she promptly announced to us (when looking for a midwive for Jaqi's birth) that she is only in it for the money...

Now, Marilyn Sher, she is great -old lady but great and so motherly you will feel totally safe with her. Do you want her number?

Nef is all else fails I will go to VP, have asked Birthing options if perhaps they can help as well.

TaNasha, I am hoping very much on a home birth. To me it will be the calmest place to be.
