Shelley - firstly Congratulations!!! what an exciting and daunting time :)

I have not been on anti-depressants during pregnancy (would you not need to get a prescription anyways so the doc can give you something safe while preggy?), but can I recommend a herbal remedy that works if you keep taking it? Sister Lilian's rescue emotion is fantastic xxx

Hi Shelley K, I had my daughter at McCord in 2005 and it was quite "no-frills" then but the staff are nice and the birth experience was okay. I quite enjoyed the fact that the entire staff stop for hymns and prayers every morning! I also know someone who had her baby there last year and she said it was lovely.

I was also pretty anxious throughout my pregnancy - the dad did a duck and I didn't have a stable job or anything - but I got through it and so will you!

I don't think psychiatric meds can be taken during pregnancy but maybe look into homeopathic solutions. I also know of people who got into yoga and meditation and went for Reiki healing sessions to cope with pregnancy stress and depression.

It's a roller-coaster ride of note is pregnancy but remember women have been giving birth for centuries - your body knows what to do.

I'm sending you a big virtual hug and lots of good vibes.

shelly k -congrats on your pregnancy.

i am not suffering from depression but when i was preggies with the my friend i has sleepless night with "what if" this and that.

i was living far from friends and family (no support) contract hubby was working on and we were the only couple with a baby or expecting a baby in the flat.

but all i can say please enjoy your pregnancy.
in hospital they showed or demo how to wash baby and each day after baby was born we discovered things together.

Hey ShellyK - congratulations on your pregnancy, and I see you have found the October/November thread.

I also battled depression and anxiety during my 2nd pregnancy - so feel free to bounce some questions off me if need be.

Moomie is great, lots of great girls here, so someone will always be able to offer you advise or a little cyber hug if need be.

hi everyone

I am new here, currently 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby, due in October and absolutely terrified! :(

I live in Durban South Africa and I am probably going to go to McCords hospital - anyone been there?

Any moms out there due around September / October and anyone who is on or was on antidepressants for depression or anxiety attacks during pregnancy please contact me!

I have panic attacks so I have to be on antidepressants. Being my first baby I have no idea what to expect and feel completely out of control so the anxiety is through the roof! I am terrified of dying during or after the birth from complications! Anyone who has had this worry??

I cant be the only one!
