Hi Solo, I am doing well today.

How are u coping now that you are in the homestrectch?

Having my ex see my lb every week actualy not that bad he picks him up or i drop him off and we are civil towards each other, I think i got used to it throughout the last half of my pregnancy because he came to all the appointments.

even though towards the end it almost became unpleasant becos he thought he could get me back and he had to realise that i was over him as a boyfriend and now just saw him as the father of my son.

Vuvs2 - Being a single mother is hard, but it's up to you to make the best of it.

I fell pregnant when I was 25 with an ex. To cut a long story short. He left and said it was not his child. I went through the pregnancy alone and then he came to hospital the day she was born and he saw her for the last time when she was 6 weeks old - then he left again. I lived alone at the time. I don't have parents either. So I went straight from hospital home - alone with my baby girl. OK for me the first few weeks really were not that bad. I went back to work when my baby was 8 weeks old as I needed the money off course.

It was hard not to be able to just go out anymore - but it's one of the sacrifices you make when you have kids. If you can go out with someone watching your baby, you should do so, but your time out alone will be less with a baby. To be honest, I found it very hard to date with a baby. I only got really got involved again when Kayla was 3 years old. It's nice that the baby's dad is helping with expenses and still involved. Can you maybe make friends with other moms who have children so you can go out with your baby? What about going out to child friendly places during the day instead of out with friends only for wine? Or visit other family. I do think you are blessed to have your parents helping out and baby being watched once a week already.

I was a single mom but only from when my youngest was 2 - I also moved back home and let me tell you I am not sure I would have survived sane (or sober) had it happened when my kids were smaller.

Being a new mom is so overwhelming and those first 6 weeks are some of the toughest - emotionally and physically and doing it alone - makes it all the more harder.

So take it easy. Do the best YOU can. The second you become a parent you need to develop a thick skin and make your choices and stand by them!

Good luck!!!

Vuvs2 - Dont feel guilty about anything - that is the first rule of being a single parent... I promise you it will only make you bitter, so dont feel guilty ever - just remember YOU ARE DOING THE BEST YOU CAN!!!

You are lucky that your ex takes care of your sons expenses and makes the effort to be a part of his life.

My situation is different to yours in a few ways but also the same - I too am a single mom and I also live at home (with my mom). I left my LB's father when I was 6 months pregnant and my son will be a year old on the 20th of May. His father on the other hand wants nothing to do with him and has never seen him. He has never contributed anything towards Luke's upbringing and I dont think he ever will! I know I am doing the best I can for my son!

Every mom needs to take off her "mommy hat" now and then - so dont feel bad if you meet up with your friends for a glass of wine or two... Your still there for your LB and that is ALL that matters

Just relax and enjoy motherhood - its woooooonderful with all its ups and downs!!!
