Woo woo congrats!!!! Wow a c section at a private hospital can cost as much as R50000. They do packages but then you still have to pay the anaethesist paed and doc so it can really add up and if you require further medical help you could be looking at 100 000 or more so you may want to go the government route. Once you are in it isn't bad and many of the government hospitals have private wards now.

I too don't have MA and also gave birth at a Government Hospital (Somerset Hospital) and to be honest with you - it was not a bad experience at all and my son is perfectly healthy.

I can sympathise with your situation. I have just been through an ma free pregnancy and birth. We however opted to go to a provincial hospital. We live in George, and it is a great hospital. Everything went smoothly, and my baby is almost 6 months old. Planned csection, as I had 2 emergency ones before - previous 2 on ma.
