When a child is placed in a walking ring they miss out on the very important crawling phase. It is a this time when they learn how to "cross the median". Meaning they intergrate left & right. They learn to go over, under, around things they problem solve the "hurdles" in their path. They are less likely to be tactile defensive because of exposure to different textures with their hands when they are "down on all fours"
It really is of no benefit for the child....it does interfere with their development.
What you could do at this age with your little ones is place on the tummy & place tempting things in front if them....place them on their back & encourage them to roll over....Yes they get frustrated...learning new things is a challenge!!
But at the end of the day you'll see a big sense of accomplishment in your child when they finally master the art of crawling one day!!

Hi there Sunrise,

We got our little girl a walking ring when she was 5 months because all she wanted to do was stand... and got very frustrated if we didn't hold her with her feet on the ground... she loved the walking ring... a lot!

I was always against them, and although it helped us out a lot with household chores and giving my back a break... i regret it now... Tayla is now 18 months and still walks on her toes. She walked early, but only crawled at about 13/14 months... I may be wrong, it could have nothing to do with the walking ring... but that was my take.

Hi Sunrise, well people here will give you different opinions then you'll have to make a decision.

My 2 cents is that walking rings are a no no.
When I had my first child, the pediatric nurse at the hospital advised a friend of mine to make a fire with the walking ring she had for her LG because they're not good for babies.
Rather give your babies lots of tummy time and when its time for them to stand or walk, it will happen when their bodies have strengthened naturally.

I never had one and my baby girl walked at exactly 8 months and her brother walked at exactly 10 months.
Both my kids walked earlier than other kids their ages who had walking rings.

Since your LO enjoys standing up then teach her to hold on to objects rather and just stand behind her coz at 4 months, they wont stand for lengths of time.

All the best.
