You can just go to partcare and ask for a pregnancy test. Medical aid will pay.

You shoyld get a positive blood test 24-48 hours after implanation. Implantation happens 6-12 days after ovulation so theoretically you could get a positive blood at 7dpo but you would do better to wait until 14dpo to be sure. A quantitative blood test is more sensitive than a hpt.

I don't think it is standard protocol to do a blood test before you miss your period, unless like in my situation there was a medical reason for doctors to determine a pregnancy.

I guess you could just pay cash for it if you can't wait?? I am not sure.

Jaydee - blood tests are more sensitive than HPT, but it all depends on how many days past ovulation you are. But don't waste money with a blood test if you haven't missed your period yet.

I have done HPT's, but they show negative. I know I should probably not be this impatient, but you know how it goes!

I had a positive hpt 10 days past ovulation. My doctor ordered a blood test right after that which confirmed the preganancy.
