file Early Ultrasounds: Are they dangerous?

Nicegirl- this is my experience:

I am pregnant with my third baby. I have never had a miscarriage.

First pregnancy: 9 years ago- no early scan. First scan at 12 weeks and only had 3 more scans after that. I wish I had had more scans as my baby was Frank breech and so her bum was mistaken for her head at my visits to the midwife. I went intol abour and it wouldnt progress as baby was not head down.I had to have a c-section but she was a healthy baby.

Second pregnancy: 18 months ago- Had the first scan at 9 weeks. This was both a transvaginal and external scan. Both scans were about 5 mins long. I then had my next scan at 13 weeks, and monthly from then on. Baby was born healthy at 36 weeks due to me developing full eclampsia.

Third pregnancy: I am 27 weeks along. My first scan was at 8 weeks- both transvaginal and external. I have had a few extra scans this time due to bleeding as my placenta is lying low. Baby is healthy (as far as we can see).

I dont believe the transvaginal scan contributes to miscarriages. I believe early miscarriages happen due to the cells not dividing properly.
I believe that scans are so important in picking up problems that would otherwise go unnoticed.

I don't understand some doctors, who say that the ultrasounds have no harmful effects on humans. There is no information if the ultrasounds, especially early transvaginal ultrasounds, harmful. But there are more and more evidences that show, that the early ultrasounds could be really harmful. That's why a lot of researcher have been trying to find it out. Let's find it out together. Maybe it will help a lot of us to give a birth to a healthy child. Maybe it is sometimes better to say NO to an ultrasound, if it isn't necessary to do it.

You are more than welcome to suggest further questions.

1. How many pregnancies did you have?

2. How many of them were miscarriages and how many were healthy pregnancies?

3. Did you have a transvaginal ultrasound early within the first 12 weeks? Please answere for both pregnancies (healthy and with miscarriages).
3.1 How many of transvaginal ultrasound did you have?
3.2 Were the transvaginal ultrasound long (regarding the time)?
3.3 What week were you?
3.4 Did you have any other ultrasound?

4. Could you give a birth to a healthy child in spite of too many early ultrasounds? When not, what kind of health problems did your child have?
