Hello everyone,

Thanks for this! I have been wanting to book at mowbray, but really want to hear more, because I have two friends who went ther and one had a terrible experience and the other had a wonderful one! It does sound great though. How did you find your deliveries there? I am going to go make an appointment tomorrow, I'm 33 weeks now, and have had to change hospitals as I was given the wrong information where I was going to go- they only offer pethidine for pain relief and I really don't want that, I want the gas only. The active birthing unit sounds great!
Thanks again, really put my mind at ease.

Hi Mienkie

I had 2 scans one at 16 weeks and another at 22 weeks only because they said they were not sure of my due date (thats the 16 week one) and had to come back at 22 weeks as baby was too small to measure any developments other than that nothing yeah the midwife just checks the hearbeat and measures and thats it.

I have made an appointment with a doctor close by where I work he charges R250 for a scan so I can check for myself if all is well.

Will post as soon as the little bun has left the oven anxiously counting down the weeks!!!

Hi Una. I'm 29wks.

how many scans did you have? i've only had one at 22wks and they said i wont have another one again. i cant believe they'll know everything is okay with my baby by just measuring my tummy?? I'm going again next tues then i'll ask the docs to send me for one.

shoo - if you're not there at 6am then you can maar forget!

pls pls - when you get a chance after your birth, post about it here. i'm not anxious about having my baby there but i'd like to hear another mommy's experience.

in the event that anyone is following this ( )...

an update... i went for my scan yesterday. idiotically i thought that having an appointment for a scan meant that i would ONLY have a scan that day. Was there for 5 hrs!!! when I got there at 6h40 I was no. 38 in line! Waited 1h20mins just for them to hand me my file then I had to do urine, blood pressure and see the doc for a quick chat. The things you have to do is quick but the waiting to actually do it is so long.

Then when I did the scan the woman (who was very very nice) was like oh it’s so early why did they let you come now cos we only need to see you at 22 wks! Wtf man!! so 5 hrs wasted on nothing and my boss was pissed a bit cos I said I’d be here by 10 for the latest (stupidly) but I got back at 12.

so i'm going back in a month's time and i will be there at 6am.
