Mienkie, I think it sounds like great idea A pamper party. A friend of mine threw one for another friend, with someone coming to do mani/padis - I couldn't make it though so I'm not sure whether guests paid for the treatments.

I think the prices you've got are really reasonable though and if you put tell people when you invite them then they have advance notice.

good tip about the makeup! i dont wear any so i would never have known that. i was thinking some mascara, eye pencil, blusher and lippie (not directly applied, of course)? would you, as someone who wears makeup ,mind if it werent your usual brand for those basic things as well?

paying for the treatments isnt an option because i've got 45 ladies on my guest list . only about half will come but even so it would cost me more than the gifts i'm most likely to get. i'm having one at work then another joint one for all my friends, mother's side of family, father's side and in laws so it's quite a few ladies.

the eats will be provided by my mother's side of the family.

i might add that while i'm sort of planning the shower, it's undercover and 2 of my friends are fronting as the organisers. i didnt have a baby shower with my daughter as she came very early so i want to avoid the disappointment again by organising my own. . i know it sounds a bit pathetic but if i dont, i wont have one and i really do want one.

I think its a great idea and the treatments are really affordable. I wouldn't do makeup though cos I think woman are very fussy about the type of products they use on their face. For example none of my friends use the same products. I use MAC and only MAC, another would only use Estée Lauder. Manis or pedis are a great idea too.

If you are really concerned about your guests paying for the treatments, you could pay for it (also counts as a party favour) and ask them to bring a plate of snacks or drinks instead.

would like to get some feedback on an idea i have for my baby shower.

i'm due 18 july so i'm thinking of having it on 2 june. the idea is a Pamper Shower. i know a reflexologist who could do a foot/leg or neck or hand/arm massage for about R50 and the guests could get their hair flat-ironed or blown out for about R20. i was thinking of getting someone to do light makeup at no cost but i'm not sure of who yet.

what do you guys think? I am REALLY against the silly games and looking like an idiot to entertain people so i really want to enjoy my shower (seeing as i'm not planning on more kids ).

my worries are that some people wouldnt like to be invited, have to bring a gift and then still pay for a treatment. it is optional, of course. if that is a problem for people, would it make a difference if they were invited 2 months in advance and could budget for the party?

your honest feedback and any ideas would be much appreciated.
