Hi there,

Joybaby, there is a theory that nausea is caused or made worse by fears / stress / anxiety that you experience during early pregnancy. I know the nausea is not in your head, and I'm not suggesting that you are bringing it on yourself either. I'm simply wondering given the stressful ending of your previous pregnancy, with a baby in ICU and countless hours spent worrying about her and caring for a sick child, if you might have some hidden fears about this baby being healthy.

Maybe a fear release session with a hypnotherapist is not such a bad idea, it can't do any harm, can it?

I really hope you feel better soon! And congratulations on the pregnancy!!

HUGS*** I sympathise and have no solutions for you. I lost 5 kg in the 1st trimester and have yet to put even a single kg back on - so at 17 weeks I'm still at my prepregnancy weight from before James. I have also been worse this time around. I think stress and lack of rest makes things worse. Although I'm not throwing up constantly anymore I have this low grade bleh feeling which has put me off food entirely. I also stopped my pregnancy multivites because they made me feel worse - even the smell used to turn my stomach. I have started again in the last week, but avoid the omega 3 capsules because they are the worst! My midwife told me to just eat what I could, so salt and vinegar chips and biltong are my staple diet - small portions. I'm now slowly starting to add a bit more variety, but my poor hubby has taken over cooking and James has been getting a lot of fruit and sandwhiches because I cant stomach cooking:(

Hi Joybaby

I can also sympathise, I had shocking all day sickness and lost about 4-5kg in my first trimester. I also tried everything. Acupuncture helped me - but only for the duration of my acupuncture session and as soon as I walked out the nausea was back. It works differently for different people though so you should give it a try.

I also downloaded a "stop nausea" hypnosis track from hypnobabies.com and that helped slightly but not enough to make me feel better.

All I can suggest is to just keep trying as many different foods as possible - different things helped me at different times during my morning sickness. Mielies helped a bit for a while, fish fingers were all I could eat at another stage. I also forced down Ensure just so that I was getting SOME nutrients and liquids. I could not stand the smell of anything, including my poor husband.

Fresh air definitely made a difference. My symptoms started subsiding by 10 weeks (I could eat more foods even though I was still nauseous) but it took until about 14/15 weeks for me to feel better.

Good luck!

yes, the dishwasher....that's a killer!

I can only imagine the extra stress on your husband (and you) with you being so sick.
It really was a stressfull time for us as well.

I hear what you are saying about being concerned about the baby's health. I would also be if I were in your shoes, especially because my LG was born with a bladder abnormality. I really hear you, but as far as I understand the mother is the one who will be taking more strain because all nutrients, oxygen etc goes towards baby first, which means mom suffers! But speak to your doctor about your concerns, maybe he can give you more answers about this.

I remember my doctor being very unsympathetic with me and he said that the morning sickness is a positive sign of a very healthy pregnancy! I also read that people with morning sickness on average have children with higher IQ's ! Hearing this did not HELP ME FEEL BETTER! But there, I said it....

I hope this all goes away soon. It won't last forever! (I know it feels like forever)
