file Terrible morning sickness 1st trimester pls help

Thanks Gloei. It helps knowing I'm not alone.
The worst for me is the stress its caused at home.
Cos as you say I cannot do anything. I have to stay entirely out of the kitchen, that includes cleaning, dishes, unpacking dishwasher (that smell is worse than a dirty nappie!), and dont even talk about changing dirty diapers :(
This puts a lot of pressure on DH cos I am totally useless, and also feel too naar to do much with Kaylee. I am leaving her at the daymom till 6pm some days so that I can fetch her and know DH will be home when I get there.

With my first pregnancy I lived off fresh fruit, but at the moment I seem to manage bananas only bleh.

I think I may give the pregnancy shake a try. Since I seem okay with yogurt and milk it may help.

I am very concerned about the baby's health. Since our first baby is a heart baby, want to know I'm doing everything I can to ensure the health of this one, and 1st trimester is crucial for that. The stress at home hasnt helped either.

Yesterday was okay, but today is rough again and we're going for a braai this afternoon...

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

shame joybaby, I really feel for you. Those few weeks were really the worst of my life. I became so depressed and had feelings of not wanting the pregnancy anymore.
I couldn't do anything for myself, my husband took over all chores as I was either in the bathroom or lying in bed...I couldn't work or do anything, I have no idea how you are coping with a toddler!!

Yes, fruit also helped me like watermelon (but don't eat too much...otherwise...) and strawberries.

My doctor suggested a pregnancy shake. It is basically a meal in glass with loads of vitamins. I can't remember the name now, but it is sold at most pharmacies. It didn't taste great, but I tried to drink little sips every now and again. He said some women who are constantly nauseas only drank that during their whole pregnancies and mother and baby was fine.

good luck...

Hi hun

Ive lost 2 kilo's since Sunday cos yesterday I could not keep anything down at all :(

Today has been better but I think because I've hardly eaten anything and slept half the day away.

I really hope week 9 gets better! I dont mind queasiness but not to the point where I cannot eat / cannot keep anything down.

I'll go buy some apples and bananas tomorrow to add to my collection of crackers, ginger biscuits, ginger tea and crackers. Yum!

Oh my friend :( week 8 was the absolute worst week for me. I had all day sickness up until 8 weeks, but it definitely got much more intense and then just suddenly got much better from the 9th week until it almost went away at week 13.

grated apple might work as gloeiwurmpie suggested, i know they always suggest it to people with upset tummies/nausea, and i know its not the same thing, but it is atleast worth a try.

AFM, i couldnt take in any food except fresh, cold fruit. maybe try watermelon or something that will help keep you hydrated aswell. also give essentiale a try, my mom swears by it. she was sick until the morning of my birth, and its all that got her through.

Thinking of you xxx

1st pregnancy - We had a natural birth at home with our midwife. It was a dream come true!

2nd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 12 weeks (blighted ovum)

3rd pregnancy - 2012 Miscarriage at 7 weeks

4th pregnancy - 2013 Twins Miscarriage at 6 weeks 4 days

3 Sept 2014 - Saw and heard our little heartbeat.

joybaby...I have the deepest sympathy. I had very bad morning sickness from around 8 weeks up to about 16 weeks. The only thing that helped for a day or two was to go to my local clinic (intercare) and ask my Gp to put me on a drip with fluids. He also added an anti-nausea medicine to the drip (maxalon I think?? not sure).

After this I could keep food in for a day or 2. I had the drips twice during that period, but with a next pregnancy I will have it every week should I need it again.

Try and find a food that "Works" for you. I found a high protein diet helped the most.
I lived from eggs/french toast and tenderised steak. Grated apples and carrots helped me (my husband placed the grated apple/carrot in the shape of a heart...how sweet).

I remember that eating outside with fresh air helped a bit. I also walked around with a lemon and scratched it whenever I needed a "fresh smell" or felt nauseas. I think my lemon had a name and everything, it was my best friend!

Try and eat small bits the whole day, nibble on a dry cracker...

But in the end....Nothing really helped much. I tried the vomifene as well, useless.

Shake man that sucks! Have you looked at acupuncture? Was the only thing that helped a friend of mine

Hi Joybaby,

I also had all day morning sickness, vomiting between 2 & 5 times a day. Couldn't take smells of any food etc. Tried everything you tried, nothing helped me, not even the Vomifene. I stopped taking my pregnancy vitamin & it didn't make a difference. Yet when I started taking it again I vomited right through the night, so I stopped taking the vitamins completely.

My Dr wasn't bothered at all. He said the baby is too small too be affected. Men in general just do not understand!

I got a syrup called Essex that's very sweet & you can basically have as much as you like. That gave me some relief.

My all day morning sickness suddenly went away at 16 weeks pregnant. It was amazing! Since then I have read that taking Rescue drops helps as well.

Good luck, hang in there Girl! It will go away xx
