Gynecologist in Johannesburg

Please can someone recommend a good Gynecologist that delivers at the Sunning Hospital. Thank you

I'm currently with Dr D Milos at Sunninghill hospital. I'm very happy with him, he runs a practice together with his brother, so one or both of them are always available, even in emergencies. They are very pro C-section, as are the rest of the hospital's gynaes (I've heard). I've had some very good recommendations for them, they used to practice in Bedfordview but moved to Sunninghill, and quite a few ladies I know in Bedfordview now travel all the way to Sunninghill since they dont want anyone else

Sunninghill hospital and especially maternity ward has really impressed me, hopefully I wont be disappointed during labour Even if you dont book a private room, you only share with one other mom, and babies sleep next to your bed in your room, unless you ask to have them moved to the "creche". The other factor that impressed me is the fact that they try to make the Ceasarean process as close to natural birth as possible (as much as that can be done), there is a midwife in the theater all the time, and baby is given to mom to breastfeed and for skin-to-skin contact as soon as baby is delivered. Also the C-section is done with a spinal block, not epidural, it is a much thinner needle and it wears off about 2 hours after operation, so you may be up and walking the same day still, with the proper pain meds and if all goes well.

All the other gynaes in the hospital have good reputations, but I dont have particular info on them. A lady at work delivered there under another gynae (a lady) and was also very happy.

The hospital is not that important to me. but I heard Medi-clinic is a good hospital. I would actually wish to go to a Doctor in Middelburg/Witbank. But I heard many bad things about Middelburg Gynies.

Which hospital do you prefer?

I'm getting a Elective C-Section.

It really depends on what type of birth you want!! There are many gynies to stay away from if you want natural, but they could be great if you want 'n c-sec.

If its natural you want, I would go straight to a midwife and have a back up gynie.

Dr Koll at Sandton Medi clinic is very good, I was with another gynea there,but had a big argument when I was 37 weeks and switched to Dr Koll, he came highly recommended and was brillaint. Even though I only saw him once before my daughters birth I trusted him.

He supported my wishes and allowed a natural birth with minimal intervention,

Its best to decide what you want from your birth and then find a Dr who will support you,
