Dr C van den Berg - Durbanville

Hi Pokkeltjie,

I used to go to Corlia for 14 years (since I had been a teenager), and have always found her polite with lovely beside manners.

However last year when I approached the topic of family planning, I was bluntly advised that she only performs C-sections and only operates out of the Netcare Blauuwberg Hospital. If I wished to go the natural route I would have to find a new Gynea. So I had to find a new Gynea who would be willing to respect my birthing wishes.

If you are planning to have a C-section then I can recommend her.

Tried Dr Marie Pienaar but she however no longer takes on new patients

Shurainian, Dr Pienaar is a little more on the expensive side I think, yes. My sister (and a few ladies here on the forum) is with dr Atzl. I know he charges medical aid rates and claims directly from the medical aid so you don't have to pay anything cash for your consults. Whereas Dr Pienaar doesn't claim from any medical aid and you have to pay for every consult cash and then claim back from m/a yourself. Also, my sister had to pay about R2000 to Dr Atzl before the birth (probably the part that medical aid doesn't cover), but they let you pay it off over a couple months which is nice. Dr Atzl is very nice, I met him a couple times when I went with her for scans and such and I know everyone can't sing his praises enough. But personally I love Marie to bits and I think I've decided to bite the bullet and rather stay with her and pay cash for all future consults.

Joybaby, thanks for the info. I've heard about dr Roselli, but dr vd Berg is the only gynae around here that is contracted in with Resolution health and that they will pay for, so that's why I asked about her. But like I said, I think I'll stay with dr Pienaar. I've got GAP cover so when (if) the time comes to give birth some day, I'll just have to pay the first part of her bill that m/a would have covered and the GAP will cover the rest.

I do not know Dr Corlia Van Der Berg but think she was Dr Lizette White's replacement? If so, an acquaintance had a very good birth experience with her and was very happy.

I am with Dr Rosselli who has rooms in both Durbanville and Panorama, and delivers at both. His partner is Dr Kleyn who is also very nice.
Dr Rosselli is also experienced in fertility assistance, and helped with 2 ppl I know determine what their issues were, including their spouses, and does AI too.

I am also with Dr Marie Pienaar as my gynae, but just for yearly check ups for now but planning to TTC next year.
Is she a lot more expensive? I am contemplating if I should switch to Dr Atzl, not sure if it will be any different?
I am with Discovery.

Do you know if both doctors support to go natural where possible? Heard there are gynaes that say they support but eventually will 'recommend' c-section so its easier for their schedule.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually live like 5 minutes away from Panorama hospital, so I'll have to travel to Durbanville.

Good to know that she supports natural birth though, because that's why I love Marie Pienaar so much. She's very much an advocate for natural birth and, even though I'm still struggling to fall pregnant, I want to go the natural route one day.

I don't mind travelling if it means that she's a good doctor. I take it her consultation rooms are not at Durbanville Medi-Clinic? Do you know where she delivers?

Dr c van der berg is Corlia van der berg a female gini, she good and i use to go to her. but she does do normal birth so i had to change to Dr R van der Wart - durbanville medic clinic ..

if you dont want to travel to panorama there a few dr at Durbanville you can try .
