file What to expect during last weeks

Just a side note: Dr. 7* is a very good doctor in my opinion, I know he is very quiet and can seem aloof at times, but I have known him for years and know people who know him on a personal level. I find with him you need to ask questions from your side and sometimes you feel as if you are asking stupid questions, but go ahead and ask!

As far as my knowledge stretches he is very neutral towards the whole natural/c-sec option. However he is a very cautious doctor and is known to have one of the lowest rates of "complications with birth for mother and baby" therefore if there are any true medical reasons for a c-sec he will his judgement on that from my experience.

Sjoe, I can't remember exactly. I think from around 30 weeks it was every second week and the last 4 weeks it was once weekly??

But do phone the receptionist lady (Vera). She is extremely helpful and friendly. I have phoned her so many times and asked her odd little questions. It is best to phone after 12:00 as it can get very busy in the mornings and she might be able to give you a better answer when 3 phones are not ringing at the same time!

Ps: I was very happy with the Unitas maternity ward. I was very lucky to get a very good breastfeeding consultant (this is often not the case). If you want to breastfeed, don't be shy to ask them for assistance. I find that often if mothers don't get good support while in hospital, breastfeeding becomes difficult. Do not hesitate to ask for the breast feeding consultant with every feed if you feel unsure about the latching etc.

I know with your first child you feel so out of your depth that it is often difficult to ask for help, but really do make use of the staff, they are very friendly and tell them if something bothers or worries you, or that you are not coping with pain management etc.

I did have a c-sec, so I am not sure about the support for vaginal births at unitas.

Hi there

Thanks for your reply. I haven't discussed that with him at all, not sure when to??

I would prefer natural birth :) I am going there on Thursday again so hopefully he will then do a scan again to measure and weigh our baby. He said he was going to do that at 36 weeks, I am 35 weeks this week so not sure. Did you go every week in the end?

Hi Want2bmommy,

I am with Dr. Sevenster too. I can't remember an internal at all. Only the first
pregnancy scan was internal. He just carried on with the normal urine tests and
scan and fetal monitor to check baby's heartbeat I think?

Have you discussed the type of birth, vaginal or C-sec?

Hi ladies,

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant, can't believe only 6 weeks left...

I need some advice please. Can any of you please tell me what to expect during these last doctor's visits. I am with Dr Sevenster at Unitas hospital, not sure if anyone else is with him. What will they be checking during these last visits, I heard that somewhere they will also do an internal checkup? Just don't wanna be in the situation where I am not prepared for it :)

This is our first baby and I am feeling a bit in the dark...
