Yip I agree but its just impossible to get hold of him and he always insists I speak to the midwife. I have an appointment with him on Wednesday so I will chat to him then. I was just hoping that someone on here had gone through something like this.

Sjo, Snail, I really think this is something your gynae must explain to you. If I were you, I'd insist on speaking to him and let him explain it all to you.

Hi Everyone

I really need some advice/opinions.

2 weeks ago my gynea sent me for a glucose tolerance test (GTT), i'm assuming he did this because I have 2 direct family members with type 2 diabetes so it automatically makes me high risk. So my results came back high and the midwife (who I cant stand) called me and said I need to go for a full 2 hour screening test at the labs, which I did the very next day. 2 hours after drinking the glucose solution my sugar level was 8.7. The midwife said that it should be 8.6 or below so it is only 0.1 above which means that I do not have gestational diabetes but it is not great. She recommended that I cut out all sugar and white flour. She said that my gynea would probably tell me to just carry on as normal, but this is what she recommends.

I feel like nothing was explained to me properly and ofcourse getting hold of my gynea is like trying to draw blood from a brick wall because he is so busy! What does it mean if I am 0.1 above? Is it very bad? Do I need to cut out all sugar completely or can I still have a treat every now and again? What will happen if I have a bad meal, will I kill my baby?

My dad is diabetic so last night I pee'd on one of his urine test sticks and it showed sugar in my urine but then I tested my blood and it was 7.4 (I did eat some apple crumble about 2 hours before the test - so is this number ok or is it bad?)

Is there still a chance that I might still develope gestational diabetes later on in this pregnancy?

I am just so worried and confused!
