Congrats Anjelee!

I am also nine weeks pregnant now and am determined to keep on exercising. Firstly, invest in a heart rate monitor. It makes you feel so much more at ease if you know what your heart rate is. (Typically it shouldn't really go above 140 bmp).

I have heard amazing stuff about preggy bellies. We might be getting a pregnancy fitness expert on board soon, then she'll be able to answer a bit better.

Hi Anjelee,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I started doing pilates 3 months before I fell pregnant. I had terrible morning sickness and felt extremely tired and couldn't exercise in the first trimester. I picked up on the pilates in my second trimester and continued to exercise twice a week until delivery.

I am convinced my recovery after c-sec was so quick and easy do to the fact that all my muscles were strong and fit from the pilates. The pilates exercises focuses on all the crucial muscles involved in either a natural birth of c-sec (for recovery).

However having said that, it is important to find an instructor who is familiar with the adjustments needed for pregnant women doing pilates. I wouldn't join a class if the instructor can't adapt the excercises for you and monitor you throughout the work out.

Otherwise I am sure the preggy bellies will be of great value too. Perhaps join one class of pilates (perhaps only as a viewer for a first time) or the preggy bellies?

Correct mild excercise throughout pregnancy has numerous benefits for mother and baby - Whatever you choose it will be an investment.

Hi ladies,

I would like your view on the following. I gym 3- 4 times a week, but have realised that it is getting really difficult, as I am getting out of breath easier, plus I am still in my first trimester and paraniod, so I geuss like a first time niave mom you panic that any cardio excerise will make " the baby fall out", hehe!

So I want to start classes that are more appropriate for preganancy, either preggy bellies or pilates. What is your view on these classes? What is the best classes to attend? I figured preggy bellies have the advantage of having other pregnant ladies there as well.
