What to expect at FIRST ever scan?

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm also pregnant with my first baby, 14 weeks today actually

The first scan is incredible! Baby only looks like a little blob at this stage but when you hear that heartbeat it all becomes so real and the sound of that little beating heart is the most beautiful thing you will ever hear!

I am about 18weeks along.

I am not with your dr but re your other question what to expect for the first scan - it is amazing to finally see the little bean and to hear the heartbeat -
one cannot explain the feeling that you already have so much love for such a small little thing.

Technical stuff this can be different from dr to dr but normally she will sit you down and chat to you ask you some questions when was your last period etc. She will most probably do an internal scan and I had to go for blood test too to see if you are immune to Rubella and to check what blood group you are. She will take your blood pressure and test your urine.

I was overjoyed to discover that I am pregnant!!! (many home test kits and a blood test later)

This is my first pregnancy and already feeling very overwhelmed in terms of what to expect.

By my guestimation (based on last period) i should be around 9 weeks. Will be going for our first scan on Monday - so excited! (I dont think i believe its real until i see a pic on the screen).

Please advise what to expect from the first scan - i would like to be as prepared as possible.

I am going to Dr Taliep at Cape Gate, as she is an associated gynae as per my med aid. Does anyone have any experiences with her?
