Hi Tisha,

I have always been on the Plus size. I gained 13kg with my pregnancy and 20kg thereafter (and yes, I still breastfeed). My gynae is not the most sensitive and he is yet to say a thing. If your health and your baby's health is in order, there is nothing for him to say. If he makes this wonderful experience less wonderful for you - leave him, you only experience this once (this specific pregnacy) so no reason for anyone to ruin it for you!!

At the end of it all you pay him to deliver a service, not to sit in judgement.

Thank you so much! I'll try not to let him get to me. Please hold thumbs that he won't be too hard on me for it! Haven't been for a scan since 14 weeks so really want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Hey Tish

I agree with DieSwartKat.

With my first pregnancy I picked up 30Kgs, because I believed I had to eat for two, I never lost it, and my gynae (Female) never said a word about it.

With my second pregnancy I picked up 7kgs, I tried to control what I eat, I also suffered with heartburn a lot.

With this one I am constantly hungry, I have picked up 400g so far.

What Im trying to say is, just as long as you eat healthy and rather smaller meals more frequently than bigger meals at set times everything should be ok. Also make sure you excersice a bit everyday even if its only going for a walk around the block or go to the malll have a nice window shopping trip. ;) I know people severely obese and went through pregnancies delivering perfectly healthy babies without any probs.

btw. I am now 10 kgs heavier than I was the day I gave birth to my now 5 year old son. And I have a plan worked out to shed this after this pg ;)

Good luck and dont let others ruin this special time in your life! (((hug)))

Good.

The golden rule is: you breathe for 2, you never eat for 2. Eating for 2 is a fallacy, the baby will take what it needs from your body, even when you haven't eaten a thing. Ever wondered how women in Ethiopia (and other countries where there is serious starvation issues) can be so skeletal and still give birth to perfect 3kg babies? Because the baby doesn't feed from food in the mom's tummy.

Maybe the difference is that my gynae is a woman with 3 kids of her own, and yours a man who will never go through the process of pregnancy himself. I suggest you try and take his weight comments with a pinch of salt, he'll be out of your life in a few months' time anyway.

Thank you SwartKat.. I'm honestly thinking about moving to another Dr as i really don't want to feel negative when i go visit him. I am healthy, no blood pressure, no excessive swelling, nothing. I don't eat for two. Just don't know how to explain that to him. It's the worst thing when he talks about my weight in front of DH.

Doctors differ, mine never said a word about my weight. I gained my first kilo at 21 weeks, and 20 kilos between then and delivery. Mostly water, but a kilo on the scale is a kilo on the scale.

I think as long as you eat sensibly you can't help what your body does, don't let that take your excitement away. It's only in your control up to a certain point, no use making yourself crazy about it.

Hi guys

I was wondering if there's any other plus size mommies due next year? I have an appointment with my gynae for my 23 week scan and I am so nervous about it because I've picked up 6kg since 12 weeks. I was feeling extremely excited till I got onto the scale this morning :( He is most likely going to freak out about it.

Feeling very down.
