Faffymum, rather take a light summer gown. hospitals are super warm and its even warmer in the maternity ward as they do not want the babies to get cold.
and then your pregnant body is anyway much hotter than normal, and that does not go away quickly.
i was sweating like a pig in that hospital ward

IreneL its a bit of a catch 22 situation. you want to feel a bit more protected, but everything you where just gets full of blood anyway (but then again i really had alot of bleeding and some are lucky with much less bleeding) a changed PJ's every 2 hours and decided this is not working so i just left the pants. and when i was in the bed i rolled up my PJ's and just covered with the sheet and the sheets are the hospital's problem.

the hospital give you 1 bag of hospital pads which is great, but i used them up in the first day. so just take an extra bag of maternity pads as well.

maybe take 2 or 3 different types of PJ's and see what you are comfortable in. in my experience the less i had, the better

and i can also garuantee you that nothing else really matters when you are there once your baby is born. i couldn't care less about anything else just thought and cared for my tiny little angel.
when we were home, about a week later i asked hubby to tell me his experience but he had to tell me in detail what happend around me as i did not notice anything but my baby

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

StellaK, just worried that the dress type PJ's wont be enough "protection"...doesn't it get messy not wearing pants (TMI, I know....)

Karmie, thanks for the tip, will go to Woolworths today to fit a larger size and see how that feels. I like that, as you say, it keeps thing a bit more in place, haha, as that is what I am worried about!!

Faffymum, good question - I have a fluffy warm gown, but not a light one....Im due end May, but I dont think it's super cold then yet, so not sure if I should get another one either....

and how about gowns? I am due end of April...should I take a fluffy warm gown or a lighter summer gown? Are hospitals cold or are you more comfy with less on probably hey?

Hi there

I wore yoga pants the entire time, but I bought them a size up so I knew they were not going to be uncomfortable. I agree that you do not want your clothes to be tight, but soft and comfortable.

I actually liked the pants because it kept the bulky pads in place and provided some extra "security" down there. You bleed quite a lot.

Just make sure that whatever you buy is breastfeeding friendly if you are planning to breastfeed.

i would also not recommend yoga pants. get something loose and easy to take off.
what worked for me was long T-shirts or dress type PJ's and i never wore pants in hospital.
i had a natural birth and had a lot of bleeding afterwords - one hell of a mess and pants was just a frustration.

everything is sore and very sensitive afterwards so you definitely do not want anything tight.

PJs for hospital? was created by IreneL
Can anybody perhaps give me some advice on PJs to get for the hospital?

I'm due end of May. I was thinking about getting black yoga pants, and tops with straps...but now I read somewhere that someone said she doesn't think yoga pants is a good idea, as the maternity pads are pretty bulky and you might feel uncomfortable wearing yoga pants....?

Anybody here perhaps that wore yoga pants in hospital, that can give some "reviews" about it?
