I am on Discovery Key Care Plus. I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and have so far had no problems at all with DKCP.
I received my pre-authorisation number for the birth at 20weeks.
DKCP pay for all GP visits, medication if given by the GP, Gynae visits paid in full on their list of preapproved gynaes (only had a R300 first time consulatation copayment). So far all scans have been paid.
I'm going for a 4D scan at end May, which I can send in and claim a portion back.
They also pay in full for the birth so long as it is at a Life Hospital, and it is either a natural birth, emergency c-section or medically approved c-section.
They unfortunately won't pay for an elective c-section.

If you're a Vitality member, they'll register you on Vitality Baby, and you will get an email to take to any ToysRus or BabiesRus for a free bag of goodies and vouchers (e.g. a 60% off voucher on a baby or toddler car seat)

If you're unsure which hospitals or gynaes are covered in your area you can just phone the discovery helpline, or contact them via the website and they will call you, and ask for a list. They'll email you a full list of every single dr/specialist/hospital etc that they cover.

Hello Ladies I was on discovery Keycare plus with my first pregnancy, and I absolutely had no problems with the medical aid. Im now 7 Months Pregnant with my second and its been an absolute nightmare. im on Tiger Brands Medical Aid where I contribute over R2000 a month, but every Gynae app I need to pay a co-payment that I cannot reclaim. the Gynae wants R2000 cash upfront before delivery which I cannot claim back. Financially its been a night mare sine my hubby is studying full time so its all on me. With Key care I paid about R500 a month and I had no stress whatsoever. I gave birth at Glynnwood Life Hospital with Dr. Billy Jacobs. everything paid for including 4D scan, baby bag. you get such awesome treatment in hospital, massages, Im catholic and they even had someone come give me communion. Im not with Netcare and I feel that at 29 weeks I want to change. With Keycare is just important to go to their prescribed hospitals which is Life Hospitals and think to try find a Gynae contracted to them.

I'm on Discovery Coastal Saver and 6 months into my pregnancy my savings have run out. I'll def downgrade for my next pregnancy...

Im on keycare plus and had no problems with my previous pregnancy and birth, only had to pay my room as i had a semi private room that is not covered by medical aid.
Sorry wont be able to help with ob/gyn as im in cape town.

Hi Ladies who is on the Discovery KeyCare Plus Medical aid? What are the maternity benefits?Which ob/gyn is good I'm in Johannesburg east rand.
