Hahaha GPSJane you just made my day! I did see that movie and I felt the same with my first pregnancy and yes, it does get better. Once you feel baby kick it makes it all a bit more worthwhile but it's still uncomfortable and the discomfort increases too, in the third trimester. Second trimester is better and while the third trimester is again more uncomfortable, the upcoming birth is more of a reality and something to hold on to. The movie is correct (for me) in that it correctly states how the positives about pregnancy is hyped up, while the negatives are hushed over a bit, and then newly expectant moms have a skewed notion that it will all be pink, fluffy marshmallow goodness.
With this pregnancy I just keep reminding myself that there will be some nice moments in between all the discomfort. And those nice moments make all the difference.
I also found it quite hard to bond with my first during my pregnancy (and seemingly no-one else found this hard or difficult?), just because it is all so unreal, difficult to picture a baby, my baby, in there. But we bonded when she came out so all well in the end.
Second pregnancy is difficult for its own reasons, since now I know exactly what I'm letting myself in for
I do feel it is a miracle, and after my first pregnancy I actually missed being pregnant a little bit. Hold on, you are almost over the worst part (the first trimester really is the worst) and there are some really awesome parts ahead.
