@Luaz.mayer my daughter still loves eating oh-lief aqueous cream at 3yrs!

Aqueous cream- I have to go with Oh-lief. Also their mosquito/insect repellent is great.

Bum cream- bepanthen, but only used wen i could see a rash starting or if a dirty nappy was left on for too long or a massive poo!

Soaps/washes: for some reason i cannot remember the name.

Wetwipes: Johnson & johnson unscented. My LG had a reaction to every other wetwipe!

Medicines: Panado, telemant or gripe water, ear drops if you are on an airplane in the first 6 months!

Another must have is the Elizabeth Anne clothes washing liquid and stain remover!

Formula-Similac Total Comfort. Its the most Similar to Lactation that you'll find. Tried s26 and Man before and my daughter didn't like it and it made her poop stiff.
Skin things I use Benets Aquuas creme. Avoid scented products. They may irritate baby's skin.
Also get Wicsen powder which is great at drying up the umbilical cord sooner.

Hi Carmy,

This is just my opinion, Oh Lief has an amazing aqueous cream they are expensive but it's organic and safe, my Lg actually eats it (don't ask me why). I never used powder at all or baby oil, I used everything and anything that I got from my baby shower and went with what I liked afterwards.

Bum creme I just love Bennetts, for serious rashes invest in Antipeol I use it for anything now, cuts, sores even fever blisters, expensive little tube but worth the buy!

I've fallen in love with the oh so heavenly range at clicks that's also an idea to try out once baby is a little bigger.

Medicine wise, nurofen for children from 3-6months or 5kgs up, as a newborn I used Panado syrup. For cramps I used telement drops not too sure from what age. The brown sugar Joanne is talking of should be treacle sugar, it's the dark sticky sugar that you can put into babies formula. Also instead of surgical spirits for the umbilical cord there is wicason powder ( sorry if it's spelt wrong) you just sprinkle it over the area, so much easier for first time moms and dads who are nervous that they hurting baby. Tissue salts are also an option no 8 for cramps.

Formula take your own even if the hospitals use their own, my Paed recommended Similac (gosh can't remember which one) but it's the normal one no 1 and my Lg took to it better than Nan. And as Joanne said stick to one type it takes about a few weeks for them to get accustomed to it.

Dont forget mosquito spray pure beginnings for baby if in summer, no matter how much you protect baby those buggers find them. Also you get Xgel for babies gums and teeth. We use to put it on the dummy and she really has beautiful teeth now. Also is nice for the guns when teething.

Hope that helps! And good luck!

Hi Carmy,

Before my LB was born I stocked up on all the products: powder, lotion, wash, soap, etc. Only to find out that his skin was so sensitive that I could not use any of it. My advice on the products would be, and this is especially if you or hubby have sensitive skin, to only use plain aqueous cream not even one from the baby ranges but something like epimax for babies and also you get a aqueous cream soap bar which is great for sensitive skin.

I know most hospitals use S26 or NAN for newborn feedings, but maybe check this with the hospital you are going to.

On the medicine side you get a panado syrup which is safe from birth and eardrops is also important in my opinion. For constipation you can add a bit of brown sugar or another tip I got from a sister at the hospital is some olive oil. Unfortunately for cramps the only thing you can give until one month is "Krampwater" my pharmacy gave us some Buscopan since my LO had severe cramps.

Another tip I can give you is if your LO is not feeling well it is sometimes better to visit the pharmacy instead of the doctor. The pharmacists really have good advice. (This is only form personal experience)

Good luck
