Our midwife said in pregnancy, itching is due to the liver dealing with all the hormones and excreting the excess waste. You're probably producing loads of progesterone at the moment, which could be the cause? Hope you feel better soon and congrats on the pregnancy!

Thank you so much Louwla ☺ I will try bathing in baking soda!

Hello Everyone,

I've only recently discovered that I'm 5 weeks pregnant.

I have had an itching problem that has never been diagnosed. My skin has been incredibly itchy for the past 4 days or so, more than usual.

I suspect that when I'm stressed or anxious my body releases too much Histamine and my skin becomes itchy all over but with no rash.

I used to take Allergex to calm the itching but now I can't take it especially being so early in the pregnancy.

I did go to Clicks yesterday and they gave me ASIC tablets which are safe for pregnancy and are actually for nausea but have an anti-histamine in them.

They seemed to do the trick but I want to know from other Mom's out there if they have experienced this too and how they have dealt with it.

I don't really want to have to carry on taking the tablets throughout my pregnancy even though they are deemed safe. I've tried putting aqueous cream on but it seems that all creams just seem to irritate my skin more.
