I've heard great things about Dr Gaetzner at CTMC, but i'm with Dr Puzey who is his partner. I've been with him for 10 years and will not change him for the world. His fantastic, very funny man so always makes you feel relaxed. I have to agree with Lollipop, CTMC is a wonderful hospital to have your baby. I have sweet sweet memories of that hospital :)

I went to Dr Victor and she is AWESOME ! She is soft and gentle, spends time with you (you do not feel as if you are part of a big baby factory), answers all questions in a way that a lay person can understand.

And Netcare Blouberg is a stunning hospital, the nurses are professional, they do not push you into anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, they follow your lead and the maternity & pediatric nurses really love babies and have all the patience in the world with them.

I would however give Dr Victor a call asap as she is really popular - I have to book my annual check-ups almost 12 - 15 months in advance, but when I was pregnant I only had to wait about a week to see her.

I agree with Lollipop, Dr. Gaertner is great and so are his partners (Dr. Meiring and Dr. Puzey). It does appear you are preferring a female gynae though? I heard excellent things about both, Victor and Shannahan. However, female gynaes are usually fully booked for weeks/ months in advance, you might want to phone them and find out first. Good luck and congrats!

I think she has a great personality. When I was 13 weeks, my daughter got chicken pox and so did I though I was just a carrier and she phoned around specialists etc finding out info and making sure I and baby would be fine.

Congrats by the way! :)

I use Dr. Shanahan and she is super fantastic! :) She just had a baby herself so is even more understanding I'm sure of what we have to go through... She explains everything so well as well.
