Hi Momies.

I have tried the warm water and it seems to be working, but I only give it to her when she hasn`t passed a stool for the day.

Its kinda tricky since I breastfeed and ive her formula. ;)

The clinic nurse once told me it is normal for breastfed babies to have stools once a week, during growth spurts aswell there is not much left over to make a poop and the consistency can even be toothpaste like and that too is normal. So unless its hard stools I wont be worried too much.

ladies just mind giving water or tea at age one month. It could cause an electrolyte imbalance.

Hi Jade.

Oh this scenario is so familiar to me. I had the same problem with Thiyara when she was about a month old - and up till 2day I am still battling with and her hard stools. Have you tried giving her some Rooibos tea(baby range) without sugar? At times that helped my little one, but didn't solve the problem.

I hope your baby overcomes this as I battle when Thiyara wants to poo cos she screams in agony....

We tried sugar and oil etc by Dylan has a problem.

I suggest you see the paed. At this young age you want to rule out anything physiological.

Here are some tips:

Probiotics long term reutri drops.

Shake the formula tin or the formula will be too concentrated.

Add formula to cold water. It says so on the tin but I didn't as I am stuborn and need a reason why not to do something. It makes them constipated that is why.

there are other things but I would rather you chat to the paed.

We alternated s26 gold and regular s26. but only as per paed, Changing formula can cause constipation.

Are there actual hard poops? Lots of babies strain a bit when pooping.
