Hey ladies - glad to hear everyone is doing well and enjoying their little ones :) Emily will be 1 month old tomorrow - the time has gone by so quickly!!!

I breastfeed her every 2 or 3 hours during the day and then I switch to formula at night. I give her 100ml's at 10ish before I go to bed and then she wakes between 2 or 3 for her night feed (another 100ml formula) and goes back to sleep immediately, then she wakes again at 6:30AM and then we start breastfeeding for the day - she goes back to sleep again immediately after the 6:30AM feed and then we sleep until 9 or 10 and then do bathtime - so she is a real breeze and we are all sleeping well - YEAH!!!!!

I put her in her big cot in her own room for the first time last night and she did soooo well - Angelcare is a Godsend. She woke at 2AM and I fed her, put her down while she was still awake, put her music box on, and I got back in bed - she went straight back to sleep all on her own :), and then woke again just before 6 and I breastfed her and then put her in bed by me. We slept until 9 when she woke up for her feed and then we both went back to sleep and I woke up at 11:30!!!!!!! Pure bliss.

She really is a good baby, I just hope it stays that way. she has already outgrown all her newborn clothes and her 0-3mnths clothes is a perfect fit so won't last for too much longer!!!! She is sooo tall.

Keep well ladies and enjoy your little ones :)

Judes mom i know what you mean with the older sibiling....Jessica locked me out the house yesterday and stood by her sister taping the pram is if to say " what you going to do now" luckily my girl opend for me but im constantly having to take sienna everywhere with me, im to scared to leave her alone! Its much more tiring this time cos when jess was a baby i put her in the swing and went on with my cooking ect now if i leave the room i take sienna with me!

Robyn... I also have the medela pump but she is on formula now as my tummy didnt work after my c-sec and after 2 weeks of trying everything natural i had to be given meds that you cant breastfeed on i have to say sounds so similar to me Sienna latched like a pro and drank so well first 3 days then she started just chewing the nipple and not drinking and wouldnt sleep unless she had the nipple in her mouth but she would suck for a minute then fall asleep so i bought the pump and took the berry juice and egligion tablets and was expressing 100ml at a time and she would only drink about 60ml. I have to warn you expressing is exhausting, it cant take up to 40 min to express and then 40 minutes to feed baby and then you have to wash and sterilise everything and start again. It got to much for me and eventually i couldnt keep up with her. If you try rush the expressing the milk doesnt come you have to relax and use the stimulation function first that the medela pump has so its very time consuming as apposed to just taking out your boob!

But like i said in my other post, they picked up that the little piece under her tongue is short they call it tongue twist and its very common and that was causing her to struggle to latch it was hard work for her, i just gave her 100ml of formula in the new avent bottle and she drank half i winded her and she drank the other half till she was sucking air...thats never happn before she usually takes 1.5 hours to drink and even then she doesnt finish the feed.

So im hoping the problem is sorted.....also note that once you start expressing you stimulate and more milk will come and it will be hard to stop....i found every 2 hrs my breasts were aching and in pain i had to pump there and then sometimes while she was asleep at 2am cos the pain got to bad i couldnt sleep.

It has its advantages as you can see the intake but it also has its dis-advantages so do your homework...i didnt know anything about expressing as it was my first time and eventually the nurse at the hospital informed me...(once it was to late) that once you start expressing your milk doubles up and you will have to keep expressing to keep up with the flow.

One day i expressed and nothing came no matter what i did so i tried to let her latch and she wouldnt latch to my breast...it was a nightmare i had nothing to give her so then i started supplementing with formula and eventually when i went on meds her body was used the formula so she went on to that. An d so far no problems on it and its been a week now. Just hope now that she is drinking faster she doesnt start cramping!

But its a learning process....do what feels right for you. Goodluck

Hi ladies
Hope you are all keeping well and those of us who are now Moomies are enjoying your new roles

Dakota is my little princess - she feeds 3 to 4 hours and only cries when she's hungry or windy (not even for a wet nappy)
Gave her first bath last night - which she loved!

BUT 02h00/03h00 in the morning is her witching hour, when the evil queen arrives - she takes about 2 hours to feed and go back go sleep(!) - very tiring!!

D latched immediately and drank beautifully, but it seems now she doesn't want to open her mouth wide enough to suckle properly and it seems to be getting worse - taking longer for her to latch, so will chat to the nurse when we go for her first weigh-in on Thurs

DH is an absolute STAR!! Always wanting to change nappies / wind her / comfort her etc (he can't wait for me to start expressing so he can feed her as well (DH bought me a Medela pump today - how keen is he?!)

I keep reading about baba drinking 50ml or 100ml - is everyone bottle-feeding already or how do you know how much they are drinking??

Hey Moms,

how is everyone adapting to motherhood?
I must say im a bit stronger this time around, although its much harder with having an older sibling, Jude just seems to be Mr Evil, we really have to watch hima around Scarlett.

I caught him twice already switching the Angel Care monitor off, and yesturday he told hubby that he will take Scarlett and throw her over the wall ... So i am constantly keeping eyes on him.

Scarlett sleeps very well during the day and wakes up about every 3 hours for a feed, but at night she seems to be up every two hours, shes a real scream queen and hates bathing. Taking her to be weighed on Friday ....

Anyways gotta go scream queen is up

Ieleen- she doesnt want to drink more then 50ml during the day and the formula says she should have 100ml every 4 hrs so i give 50ml every 2hrs but at night she takes about 90ml everl 4-5hrs

I took her to the clinic today to weigh and they very happy with her weight 3.6kg now sos he is gaining weight but the sister discovered the problem, it takes her up to an hour and a half to drink a feed so sr checked and saw the little piece under her tongue is shorter then average so she is struggling to latch on to a teat or nipple and im using pigioin bottles with short teats (just bloody bought 6 of them cos my eldest daughter only took to pigion) so i had to rush to clicks and buy an avent with a longer teat and came home and tried it and she drank her bottle in 15min!!!! wow wow what a relief now night shift wont take that long anymore....SO I ASKED MY SIS IN LAW TO BUY ANOTHER 4 BOTTLES SO NOW IM ON AVENT!

Ieleen i know what u mean, i was like that with my first baby...a lioness i didnt want anyone to hold her or feed her i would put her in the swing when people came cos i hated it so much when she was passed around like a doll!!!

And i hate hate hate when people let them suck there fingers, my MIL used to do that to! i never knew how to tell them i didnt like it!

This time around i am more relaxed, with 2 kids under 3 i cant be so posessive cos i need help but when it was only jess, up until the day sienna came i was very possesive and and never allowed her to sleep at cousins or be left behind...where i go she goes! so cant say it will get better for some or other reason its just our instinct to become that way......its not only you i know lots of woman that r like that my sister is just the same with her sons.

She is the new tiny baby in your life...its only natural you want her to yourself! lol

Hi all!

I believe we are all enjoying playing doll!

Izibella is such a little angel. Drinks 60ml's every 4 hours. And gained 180g so far.

M2J, why does your feed sizes change?

Another question, when did you guys start taking ur LO's out?

I think I might have a problem....I DON'T WANT TO SHARE MY LG!

With hubby and the kids I'm fine. But even the ouma's and oupa's makes me nervous! Last night we had the inlaws over for supper....and FIL stuck his pinkie in my 10 day old babies mouth to suck on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost had heartfailure!!!! I wasn't this overprotective with my other two girls...maybe I was too young back then.

wow guys, congrads on all the gorgeous babies!

kerry.....robyn your girls are gorgeous
we all did so well bringing these little blessings into the world.

There were a few challenges and some of us had a rocky start...girly, but if God brings you to it he will bring you through it and girly your one tough cookie and your positive attitude has been an inspiration :cheer:

we ended the pregnancy chapter and now embark on a new chapter in our lives.....motherhood
what a great journey it has been, i look forward to the new conversations burping, breastfeeding, constipation, teething and routines!
loving motherhood, although its a little overwhelming with 2 kids now im learning the ropes and still settling in 3 weeks later.

Sienna is basically in a routine of drinking 50ml every 2 hrs during the day then she has a 100ml at 8pm again at 11pm and then at 3pm then she wakes up at 7am and we start again..

Atleast im getting sleep and DH has been amazing! cant complain she is a good little girl its my eldest daughter giving me a hard time now....she locked me outside the house today and refused to open i had to scream for my girl to come open....

one day ill have two of them running around so im enjoying this baby stage for now i know how hectic it is when they become mobile!

have a lovely evening ladies and enjoy the night feeds :woohoo:
