Hi all!

Phew thank goodness yesterday is over!

Though Iz was al absolute dream! She never cried about the whole fasting idea. I gave her a nice big bowl of her favourite cereal at about 8:30pm on sunday night as she had a late afternoon snooze and had her last milkies at 10 pm. Last sippy of water at 1pm and that was it. The late big bowl of cereal might have done the trick. She was just really upset with us for changing her nappy at 5pm, but after seeing her sisters, all was good. At the hospital little missy had a absolute blast! Greeting everyone with a big smile and cheerful 'hallo' when they come into the ward. Harrassing the nurses while they try do their job and spying on our neighbours (3 year old girl also in for grommets). Our paed wandered the ward so we had a little chat with him as well while waiting. The anaethetist came to visit and he had Iz go on the neb beforehand cause she's on asthma meds. Our bubs rocked the little blue theatre wear! I'll post pics soon. The pre-med they gave her did absolutely nothing to make her drowsy. She was still hopping around while waiting to go into theatre. We have a feisty little missy as she put up quite a fight to go down. I braced myself, and tried not to look directly at her. I didn't want that picture in my mind. The waiting went by quickly. My mom and stepdad also then came to see how she's doing, shame, my stepdad takes his role as oupa to Iz very seriously. Luckily we know the recovery nurse, so she told us as soon as Iz was out. The ENT also came to tell us how the procedure went. Madam was not happy when she came around! She did not want her dummy or bottle as I think her throat was sore. Ouma and Oupa got to see her when we went up to the ward, Oupa had tears in his eyes, awh.
She slept for about 1 1/2 hours before she woke up her old self, playing, chatting away. Almost finished her bottle in 1 go. I then gave her some cereal to eat while daddy ate her hospital food :woohoo: . Cause all the food got milk in. Shortly afterwards we were discharged.

Her sisters were over the moon when we fetched them from school as their baby sister was all smiles! Iz went down for a nap at 2:30 and only woke up this morning at 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She slept like never before. Drank 3 bottles inbetween. I gave her meds sommer in her sleep. At one point all 4 of us were sitting around her on the bed waiting for her to wake up!!

I just want to really thank you Cols for all your advice! If it wasn't for you, this experience propably would've gone pear shaped as I had no one else to get advice and tips from.

Good morning!

Does it feel like spring is returning to anyone? My peach tree is getting buds on it which is always such a wonderful sign that it's on it's way back! Thank goodness! We always loathe winter when it's here but I think also we forget how therapeutic it is for both the earth and our selves. That said, ROLL ON SUMMER!

Kerry you should have locked the gate and pretended to not be home!!!

Wow! I don't know what got into Lily this weekend but Saturday night she went down for her sleep and only woke again at 5:30 am. Then when I picked her up she went straight back to sleep till 8am! A much needed sleep in for all of us! She was back to her usual 3:30am last night but doesn't matter. She's almost eaten me out of house and home since Saturday too! I've only had limited food here because she's been picking on stuff only with a teaspoon of "food" here and there. Well she certainly rediscovered her appetite. Good Lord! Yesterday she had a full yoghurt pot size spaghetti Bolognaise as well as about half a pot of custard, then for supper she had half a chicken sausage, 3 quarters jar of purity chicken and butternut, 1 quarter jar olli apple and pear, half a jar oats and prunes cereal, 2 jars of greek yoghurt! I eventually stopped feeding her as I was sure she would pop! Lol! Was too cute though as she was feeding herself the yoghurt and as soon as some got off the spoon she put her hand in it and felt the slimy-ness and that was the beginning of the mess! Every spoon then missed her mouth first and put more and more yoghurt all over her face! She was covered in it!!!

Anyway, after all my worrying about her not liking my food I went and got an Annabel Karmel recipe book (which I'm in love with!) and today is day one of the menu plan. Stayed up last night making everything for today's meals as I won't have time during the day. Man those chicken apple balls are yum! She had the swiss fruity muesli this morning and didn't really care for it. Not exactly nice for a winter morning breakfast but I enjoyed it! Will keep that recipe for warmer times.

Anyway, I have stax of work to get done today and not much time to do it all so have an awesome day and chat later!

:-) So very nice to have a night out/off... we only got home at 12!

Bt our plans of sleeping late were foiled when Josh's Dad decided to phone us as 7 to tell us he is on his way to our place! GRRRRRRRR our one chance in i don't know how long and he goes and spoils it!

Luckily DH told me to just stay in bed, his dad wasn't really there to visit me after all.

:-) ah well back to the icy cold week ahead! I really thought it was getting warmer!

Gee girls, you're busy here today!

TGIF!!!!

Candice, congratulations on the walking! Some baba's walk before they crawl :) Too awesome :)

Jeanine, That is so cute! I hope you got a photo?

Kerry, I am so glad you are feeling better!

PM, how are you holding up? Thinking of you for Monday. Try take some biral / rescue drops for yourself?

I am exhausted. Evan is definitely teething. His gums are so swollen on top. The tooth left of the top left incisor looks like it is coming too. He has a blood blister on his gum there. Barry said he saw a white spot on Evan's bottom gum too. Every time I try look he puts his tongue in the way! Apparently my sister and I got terrible blood blisters on our gums before our teeth would cut!

How much longer does it take once the big front (top) teeth are in before they break through? Evan’s have been fully in a couple of days now. His bottom of his gum looks like a little hem and then these 2 big swollen bulges…

Evan eats very lumpy / chunky food. He hates pureed food unless it's fruit and yoghurt. I grate and chop a lot of his food. He only has his 2 bottom teeth but he even bites pieces off his marie biscuits or teething biscuits.

He has been eating like a demon and now last night again he would not eat or drink. @ 3:45 am DH gave up and told me to give him neurofen. Evan was awake moaning every hour :( He is also super snotty so I think it’s all teeth related :(

I am also childless tomorrow. My parents are taking Evan. We are going to PTA to a friend’s party. We weren’t going to go – I was going to catch up on sleep but now, no such luck. DH got cornered :)

They are on day 2 of digging the whole for our swimming pool :) It will still be a while before it’s done but at least we will have it before summer :) We’ll have to have a braai again and let all the babas have some fun :)

Have a wonderful friday!

Shame Janine - you seem to be having it really really rough with this bout of teething!I am really really hoping that they make their appearance this weekend so you can get all caught up on at least a little sleep.

the 3am feed can only mean one of two things either its comfort or a growth spurt and since its been going on so long i am betting it is nothing more than just comfort. My paed scolded me for comfort feeding k in the night, but really when thats the only thing that will get them back to sleep what else can you really do

I have discovered that when K wakes for it i really have two choices - a take her, her sleepy teddy and dummy to our bed and deal or b - feed her for a few minutes and she will go back to sleep

Feeding wins out most nights! Specially when you are sleep deprived!

TGIF!!!!!!!

Robyn and Kerry - enjoy the movie (and baby-free evening)
Maybe I should hint at DH - Would love to see HP7, and now that his parents are back, I'm sure they have missed their grandson, and will be willing to take him a night - even with 3am wakeups

I'll give then a few days to recover though - no use if its on a work day, I need LOTS of sleep

On that note - Willem woke up 00:14 this morning - screaming in pain, we finally got back to sleep around 2am (after I grabbed the panado, prodol didn't work this time).
Then he suprised me by sleeping till 5am, when DH's alarm went off!
So, I think the 3am is more about comfort than food (but it's not as if I can let him scream just because my boobies want a rest :( )

Candice - WOW on the walking!! and also skipping the crawling
(at least I got some petrol last night - only took 20minutes in a que)

Kerry, glad to hear you are both feeling better. I'm sure that as soon as K is drinking like usual the BM will come right too
Too cute with the spagetti! I gave Willem a piece a few days ago, left the end hanging out - no luck, he dug at his face, and pulled it all out again :P
7:30 - I'm jealous - most nights Willem only goes down 8:00-8:30. last night closer to 9. (I was actually asleep before him last night  )

Last night SIL was feeding Willem the last bits of her veggies (we had pasta and mince, with peas and carrots in). When the bowl was empty, he was still begging, so she sat him down on the floor, with the bowl in front of him, and taught him to wipe his finger through the gravy and lick it off!!! Was SO cute (of course right after that she sent him home with me to go and bath...)
When she tried to take the bowl to the kitchen, he would not let go, so she left him with it - wasn't 2 seconds and he had in ON TOP of his head!!!

Last night I was speaking to my dad, and I mentioned the blue gums - first words out of his mouth - oh, so that tooth must be close to coming through. Apparently its more common than I realised
