Okay do not give honey to a child under 1. That is the general rule. It can cause botulism which is very serious for young children.

I must also add that it is important to see a doctor to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with you before you resort to taking any medication or preparation.

There are amazing natural remedies out there though and always worth a shot especially for niggles.

That cute ER doctor (from The Doctors on Mnet Series) said that honey shouldn't be given to babies younger than 1year old. Something to do with an enzyme or something. Sorry, I can't remember the details. Poofy brain!

Nixie, I have also heard that and never would have dreamt of giving it to my daughter who is now 4yrs old but when Kellan was in NICU most of the babies were given honey on their dummys to encourage them to suck. His surgeon told me to put honey on his bottle, his dummy even my nipple lol :P anything to make him suck. And all of them are fine! I still put a tiny bit on his dummy when he is difficult at home just to make him calm down, but will stop once his teeth start to come through. So in my opinion its fine but im sure alot of moms wouldnt agree with me

Just something to add to this topic

Cinnamon and honey tea is good if you are retaining water! So ladies make your self some cinnamon tea if you are swollen as there is really nothing else you can drink for that when you are pregnant!

Just buy some whole cinnamon sticks and put it into water on the stove top and boil, if you have a nice strong brew poor and add some honey. It is delicious.
