So i gave birth on the 3 may 2010 to a 3.1kg little girl "Ivy" she had bilirubin & it picked up everyday even when she was under the lite until they put a drip on the 3 day after dignose her. My pead told me its not coz u have ben eating orange things while preggy, the is born and is stil going up. She told me that its a medical condition and is very common 1 in every 5 is born with it.

I'm telling you, double your calcium pills for a few days and see what happens. We cut our milk expenses by more than half!

Thanks ladies - will cut down on the oranges and orange juice. BTW, I also crave milk, so maybe it does have something to do with calcium???

NO oranges will not effect whether your baby have jaundice.

When they cut the umbilical cord that means baby;s blood must circulate on his own now.. jaundice means baby have a yellow undertone on the skin nothing serious. its just a matter of time till his circulation comes right . They put baby under red light for 1-2 days and bobs your uncle.

But keep in mind that to much fruit means to much sugar that body doesnt need which can result into weight gain.

Jems that jaundice is slightly different to baby jaundice which is quite normal.

Cravings usually signal a shortage of mineral etc. Ice craving (or cold food) = iron def.

Charnenay, I craved orange juice in the third trimester of my first pregnancy. I just couldn't get enough of it, moderation was not an option. Till I found out that orange is high in calcium and I doubled my calcium pills. Then I started drinking anything except orange juice!
